well, many of Klashikari points do sound valid, it's just that Tatsuya is no "ordinary" highschooler, just the fact that he is able to read Magic Sequence already made him an extreme irregular.

Also, about the paramedics taking Tatsuya's words, normally they don't do that (especially when a brat shows up and tells them what to do), but just try to imagine the situation. I'd imagine that Tatsuya showed up with a stern and confident look, so much that the paramedics have to comply. It's just as Kirihara said, Tatsuya cam emits pretty darn scary aura

P.S: talking about this matter makes me really want to
re-read a large chunk of Detective Conan again, where....you know,
a 6-year old kid running around and doing many things at the crime scenes

Which makes them shitty, irresponsible paramedics. If you're in an accident, you don't want Hugh Laurie or George Clooney to direct your treatment, no matter how successfully they've portrayed doctors.

Do you realize how insane and bizarre we have to believe that Tatsuya is a complete one man army package by himself?
I'm starting to understand people being that annoyed by LN readers considering "how natural" it is for you, despite the anime doesn't do the job right.
I really don't think it's an adaptation issue. The LN isn't much better on that front. It still looks like Tatsuya only asks for help because it's slightly more convenient and it makes his friends feel useful, but he could do it all if he needed to. You gave Mibu's example, and yes, Erika defeated her. But it's not like Tatsuya couldn't have done it.

In the LN, he did ask Mizuki questions after calling her, but the answer didn't matter. He'd already deduced what had happened and just wanted confirmation.

Maybe there are some things that make it easier for LN readers to accept such things, I don't know. (Though I seriously doubt it's a matter of "think, don't feel"...)

The big part of Tatsuya's character is that he isn't normal. So far in the anime we know he is a genius level engineer that has been able to set up 2 revolutionary systems, was used as a human experiment that made him a "heartless artificial mage", has been trained as the body guard for one of the next candidates for head of one of the more powerful families in the 10 master clans and is classified as a Strategic , as in 3. designed or trained to strike an enemy at the sources of its military, economic, or political power <a strategic bomber>, class Mage by the Military. He is shown to be frustrated that he is extremely poor at using noncombat magic. Rejected his father offering him a job instead of going to school as him trying to gain leverage over him. the servants of the main house either treat him as dirt or are worried he might move against the clan. But from the end of last arc it pretty much sounds like his one wish is to have a normal life which pretty much won't happen because of most of the reasons above. For as awesome as he is it also sucks to be Tatsuya.

Well, another issue with the anime.
Just wondering: what do you think is the purpose of these competitions? (Or, if you were only referring to the speed-shooting one, what is the purpose of that competition?)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it sounds as if you expect it to be about who can shoot targets down with the most precision?

Oh, I see it is practical area, not paper test, not analatical.
All Morisaki is seen in fighting was just pointing his CAD gun towards Leo and a car covered with fire after all.

But seriously, this Tatsuya character is going to get overrated as the time flies.
Tatsuya's smoothness, just how far he is going to be praised until satisfaction?

Mikihiko is a course 2 student. The anime forgot to mention that the 1st year entrance exam top 4 were Miyuki,Shizuku,Morisaki and Honoka.

The purpose of the competions is for the military and the industrial sector to scout out talented magicians and magic engineers and also to demonstrate the magic power of the students to the rest of the world, with said magicians having a chance to join the military.

For speed shooting,it's not just precision but also speed in destroying targets with in a set time frame,so thats why Tatsuya went with that tactic with Shizuku,as the anime forgot to mention that Shizuku has strong magic power but is lacking in precision.

This so-called "Nine School Competition" is not really a sport event (though it does carries that vibes), it is a contest of magic abilities. You can use any magic you want (that does not violate the rules) to achieve the objectives in each competition. "Speed Shooting" for example, resembles our today Shooting sport event where the shooter shoot the discs; in Mahouka, instead of using guns, they use magic. Although Shizuku didn't really "shoot" anything, her magic does accomplished what was needed, precisely destroying the flying discs that is. It's like in soccer you can score using your head instead of your foot (thus the name "football" you know)

Yes, that's what I understand of the 9SC.

I could have made it clearer, but my question was directed specifically at Klashikari.

He has been shown to be able to see activation sequences and analyze magic at an incredible speed that is beyond a normal computer. Most likely, he caught all the details that we the audience sees as well (then again, maybe what we the audience see is from Tatsuya's perspective). He is like a computer, always capturing data and analyzing the results. It is not surprising that he was able to deduce all that information. Also, we have to keep in mind that he is more informed than most people at the competition, with his military ties and the information they give him, such as the No Head Dragon. He just has more information to put 2 and 2 together.

What I find interesting is that although this is a huge competition with 9 schools involved, I wonder if all the students come watch and cheer. Yes, most students can't participate, but this is the biggest event of the year. It is an opportunity to see some of the best magic, to build camaraderie, and learn new things from the competition. I expect parents to come, the military, talent agents, and just general viewers, but I don't see a lot of the students that are not participating. I wonder if they are there?

The crowd scenes of the stadiums are filled with school uniforms -- far more than can be accounted for with just the teams. I think a lot of students have come to watch the games. What I don't see in the stadium shots are many people wearing street clothes. From an in-story perspective that implies not too many non-students are attending. Although the truth is Madhouse probably didn't want to take the time and expense of drawing street clothed audience members.
