Nope wasn't in the anime. I'm explaining this because it probably won't get explained in the anime at all. It wasn't really even explained in the original source, they had supplementary sources explaining that, so since the anime already showed it, i thought it would be better to explain about how the fortified suits had drugs and hypnotism feature installed into them.

If they are gonna do split-2-cours, just announce it in the first place. Considering the (lack of) popularity of this anime, they definitely were going to do it no matter what.

I don't know if I'll watch the second season, this one sure did a shit job making me care.

Spoiler for final thoughts:

What happens when you draw human drama, but don't develop the characters beforehand?
You get a lot of "I don't care"
I guess what they wanted to do was focus mainly on the coup, so they rushed everything else just to get to it, but let's just say, it was a bad decision. Sure, maybe the one or two characters focused on during the coup got character development, but the majority of the characters that appear in the anime didn't. Also, that one Japanese guy who died got more character development than most of the heroines.

On top of that, it turns out they did have another cour. So yeah, about that rushing.
It all comes down to the decision to focus on the coup as the climax of the 1st cour. Bad decision. The anime couldn't get me to care about this "major" event.


Also, different VAs and average-at-best-not-even-in-the-same-spectrum-as-the-original OP gives an impression of lack of respect for the original source.

The politicians from both countries are, well Yuuko chose to make use of their goal to further her agenda though.
You don't stop a coup, you use it to fulfil your goal. Trust me, you'll see more of this side of Yuuko next season.

The animation keep being mediocre, but the pacing was very good, and the OP/ED are actually fitting for Muv-Luv.

Better episode than any of the first season. I hope that they can make a decent adaptation of the next arc.

Hmm, I guess the anime tried it's best. Could've been worse. The god damn pacing though. Its a good thing I'm watching it weekly instead of binge watching it. If not the change in pacing is going to be painful.
But watching the drug scene in anime did make me wonder something. How come it feels like Takeru's dosage is higher than his squad?

Don't linger on the battlefield when the enemy is tons monsters even if you think you've won. Kind of crazy they didn't drag him off after a minute.
