For which manga? There's several... and for sure I don't think it's in the Moon Logs manga.

Both Akatsuki and Naotsugu had lost about a quarter of their health a little while before they figured out how to turn the tables. They were taking some legitimate damage there even considering the fact they didn't realize yet how to really use their skills.

It seems to be an actual fantasy world identical to the game, rather Meaning, I don't think it's a psuedo-sci-fi like SAO, but rather, an actual fantasy involving magic.

At first glance, everyone will be comparing this to SAO.
That's just a fact. On the other hand it is similar, but also different at the same time. As long as they keep the story in the game only, it should be better. Character animation was a bit nicer in SAO, but backgrounds are really nice here. Looks like this is gonna be fun to watch ^^ So far I like it since it has a nice balance of fun and serious action. Will be watching it!

I hope that true because if the strategist guy was getting damaged that much from a plant monster that is 50+ lvls below him, then the balancing of how monster damage scales must be very minuscule or else non tank classes will get 1-3 shotted from monsters their own lvl.

It's like SAO, but lighter and softer. Instead of worrying about being killed for real, the main characters are setting out to figure what is actually happening. I like that, the theme is that "this game is ours", not "this game is Akihiko Kayaba's".
These days, when I play RPG, I don't get that "this world is ours" feeling, maybe because everything is either freemium or DLC

Back then, I was actually disappointed with SAO's first episode. Why? Because I expected something like this. It's not going to be my favourite anime ever, but it should be quite entertaining.
You never quite forget that they're in a game (or in a game-themed reality). I love how the triffid exploded into money and a potion that defied gravity by sailing down a little slower than you'd expect (or do I misremember?). And all this wasn't even the focus of the scene. Also, I prefer ensemble-centred shows to protagonist-centred shows, and this looks like a show with a more social focus. I'm happy with the show as it is. |

Perhaps just that the game rules may have been imported into the world. Gonna order the novels on my next week's batch to find out
