100? They should cap it at Lvl. 150!

Still, no one passed the Lvl. 90 mark yet since it's a premiere to this series.

Most people seemed terrified to even venture out into the outside area where monsters appear.

You mean Naotsugu, Shiroe (MC)'s friend?

For which manga? There's several... and for sure I don't think it's in the Moon Logs manga.

Even if you took like, 5 damage from each attack you'd still be going "Oh shit!" and panicking when the now very realistic and dangerous looking claw/whip/fangs/whatever is headed towards you. It's not understandable to suddenly panic and forget you're in a game when up until now your body knows that if something like that were to hit you IRL, you'd be in a lot of trouble, if not dead.

There's also the matter of physically feeling the impact of the attacks, so even if it as Shiroe noted, didn't really hurt that much, you'd still recoil from being hit by a laser or being smacked by something large.
It wasn't a blow by blow look at their health, but we did actually see their health bars in a couple moments during that fight.

Both Akatsuki and Naotsugu had lost about a quarter of their health a little while before they figured out how to turn the tables. They were taking some legitimate damage there even considering the fact they didn't realize yet how to really use their skills.

I haven't read the novels yet, but from what I know reading the premise, I don't think they're literally stuck in "the game".
It seems to be an actual fantasy world identical to the game, rather

Meaning, I don't think it's a psuedo-sci-fi like SAO, but rather, an actual fantasy involving magic.

But dying isnt death in this world, something else happens i have no idea what though since no one says.
So i dont think its an actual fantasy world

At first glance, everyone will be comparing this to SAO.
That's just a fact.
On the other hand it is similar, but also different at the same time.
As long as they keep the story in the game only, it should be better.
Character animation was a bit nicer in SAO, but backgrounds are really nice here.
Looks like this is gonna be fun to watch ^^
So far I like it since it has a nice balance of fun and serious action.
Will be watching it!

I hope that true because if the strategist guy was getting damaged that much from a plant monster that is 50+ lvls below him, then the balancing of how monster damage scales must be very minuscule or else non tank classes will get 1-3 shotted from monsters their own lvl.

Yeah, I can't help but comparing this series to SAO and hack. The first episode was completely flat and fails to give me much impression. Nothing new or special from the characters so I'll wait two more episodes.

Okay, I must've blinked and missed the first time, I see it now. Akatsuki is one thing but I'm pretty surprised at Naotsugu since he's supposed to be the tanker. Guess Elder Tales doesn't like giving advantage to higher level players. Maybe the expansion nerfed everyone as part of the new realistic experience? Unlikely since Shiroe would've mentioned it, I guess.

It's like SAO, but lighter and softer. Instead of worrying about being killed for real, the main characters are setting out to figure what is actually happening. I like that, the theme is that "this game is ours", not "this game is Akihiko Kayaba's".

These days, when I play RPG, I don't get that "this world is ours" feeling, maybe because everything is either freemium or DLC

Love it, absolutely love the first episode

It doesn't have the oppressive gloom looming over the characters.

Back then, I was actually disappointed with SAO's first episode. Why? Because I expected something like this. It's not going to be my favourite anime ever, but it should be quite entertaining.

You never quite forget that they're in a game (or in a game-themed reality). I love how the triffid exploded into money and a potion that defied gravity by sailing down a little slower than you'd expect (or do I misremember?). And all this wasn't even the focus of the scene.

Also, I prefer ensemble-centred shows to protagonist-centred shows, and this looks like a show with a more social focus. I'm happy with the show as it is.

From what I read of the premise, it seems to be an existing world. Heck, their physical hunger can be satisfied after all.
Perhaps just that the game rules may have been imported into the world.

Gonna order the novels on my next week's batch to find out
