Marie is best girl. Seriously, she's heroine material when you think about it:

The only crimes you can level against her is stealing Olivia's spotlight, but Olivia is better off for it and the only real issue is that she didn't finish the game so she had no clue it wasn't something she could fake. Leon just didn't like her from the start, so she's basically the bad guy for it because its his story. Overcharging the nobles during the festival? They're nobles who can afford it. Most of the ones who would go to her are all assholes anyway that Leon would hate anyway. Being a fake Saint? She didn't know about the ability to influence hearts and the Saint items did choose her.

Her excuse for everything is that she ultimately wanted to be happy. She was legitimately going to do Olivia's job, she just didn't have all the details, and both her lives up to that point were so bad that it felt like the author was actively trying to break her. In her previous life, she lost her family's love, lost her child, and was murdered via domestic abuse by her boyfriend (I really don't like how they gloss over that), and was reincarnated into a family that saddles her with debt so large she can't afford new underclothes and leaves her to starve. So she decides she's going to be the heroine this time and struggles in secret to gain enough power to act as a Saint, which actively cost her something. Her diminutive stature is because she burned herself out tapping into her healing powers (which are objectively worse than Olivia who was born with the ability), all for the sake of being happy. She had to struggle to get where she was harder than anyone else, and even after the five get disowned (which only happened because Leon interfered and caused a domino effect that made things speed up because he didn't let Angelica get banished like in the game) she's still basically taking care of them and trying to help them get self-sufficient come Volume 5.

Its not just her route though, its sprinkled throughout the story and its easy to miss if you aren't paying attention. Even the five idiots are competent at what they do barring the money situation when you look at everything from a different perspective.

Spoiler for Five Idiots Accomplishments:

They do have a strong sense of chivalry, as indicated when they protected Olivia from the sky pirates, they have a strong work ethic when it comes to training as well, they attempt to free Leon from his imprisonment in Volume 3 via their own methods, and they were all well-versed in foreign languages and politics in Volume 4 & 5. They even noticed Noelle's crush on Leon before he did, and despite being of a higher status than Marie they immediately focus on making her their sole love interest rather than entering relationships with mistresses or concubines, devoting everything to her.

In a normal Otome series these are good qualities. Yeah, Julius turned down Angie and Leon pointed out he could have taken Marie as a mistress, but then he'd be exactly like his father who has no interest whatsoever in the Queen and essentially condemning her to a loveless role. If you really liked Angie can you really claim that would have been better for her?

There's also the matter of physical strength and skill. Brad was actively winning against Pierre's group despite being the weakest until the Sacred Tree intervened, and Pierre suckered the rest into a one-sided bet by marking them because they were unaware of it. Even then the others took to exploring the dungeon with Leon relatively quickly and were competent enough to make it to the sapling with him.

It's just that compared to them, Leon and Marie have a cheat item and future knowledge respectively that gives them a decisive advantage they can't overcome. Marie knew just what would stir their hearts to where she had them wrapped around her fingers and Leon explicitly had to get the cheat item in the game because it was imbalanced enough that without it would be unbeatable even for him. They were screwed from the start against these two.

Aside from that, the biggest flaw with them was managing their finances, as they did manage to earn money when she sent them out of the house, but all of them barring Julius spent it. If the plot didn't get derailed because Leon decided to step up as Angie's representative and curbstomped them, they would never be disowned and it would never have come up.

They probably could have made it as far as the Final Boss before it became unwinnable as Marie doesn't have the voice that Olivia does nor Luxion.

The 5 idiots are meant to be perfect husbando according to otomege standard after all. They indeed have nice redemption/grown up moment thoughout the series which is a good thing.

I would say they're kinda perfect match for Marie, thry're incompetent when it come to spending money or common job outside from their expertise however.. they're so devoted that Marie won't need to worry about them bring her previous life husband 2.0

Atleast Marie still get Kyle and Carla as common sense friends/followers

The final battle in Acadia made them one of the best bro you can have and with how they grown up amd learn their previous mistake after bring brutally defeated by Leon hand

Because Leon would be acting as the substitute for the main racer, so even if Leon wins, only some portion of the final winner reward would go to Leon, while majority would go the Jilk, aka., Marie's side (because Jilk was the main racer, and had previously won the other races to reach the finals).

It wasn't mentioned directly, but unlike before, Clarice had stopped going around with her servants and slaves after the School Festival arc, since Leon talked to her and she did express that she was tried of her current life-style (v2 c4).

Yeah, unlike the other girls with servants and slaves, Clarice is someone who only went that way because she was lost as to what to do about her situation.

She only entered the race with Jilk because it had the best payout even compared to the other things and she needed living expenses because while the five can earn money by exploring the Dungeon they spend it almost immediately. Plus, leaving aside the last race, he legit did win every match prior.

But what I have to question was why no one seemed to notice Clarice's followers targeting the dude and interfering with the race?

And call me heartless, because it takes some really bad situations to get me to sympathize with characters, but honestly I don't see the appeal of Clarice considering her being heartbroken = sleeping around and then trying to kill Jilk. I mean, what's the endgame here?

If her followers killed him, then even if he's a disowned noble there'd still be consequences. She wouldn't get closure. Even Angelica pointed out not to be so brazen, and when she tried to challenge Marie to the duel the only problem was the question of who her representative would be. And for her to blame Angelica for not keeping Julius on a leash is even worse. If we have to compare the two Angelica, from start to finish, has a stronger moral compass because even if their situations were the same she didn't let the heartbreak make her do something so crass nor lash out blindly when she had the power to do so.

Then I have to question how this situation would have played out if the original story was left intact. Provided Olivia went with a reverse harem situation or Jilk, Clarice would still be heartbroken so would she make the same mistakes. But would she be unable to lash out because without Leon stomping them into the ground none of them would be disowned or banished? Even if she could, Olivia outright tells Leon she could patch him up in roughly a day, so that's probably an event that would happen in the route and bring them closer.

And I still have to question why Marie, who demonstrated healing magic a while back in the dungeon, doesn't do the same thing for him here? I mean, getting Leon beaten up sounds like a grand time for her, but Jilk winning money seems more prudent.

And Marie who have the healing magic , well , she get her power by training (not naturally like Livia) her ability cannot compare to Livia. Her healing power is slower, still left pain and perhap cannot heal Jilk's wound here.
