I'm loving what the anime is doing. They're expanding on the game so much using the side materials. The entire episode was not in the game, you only read a small report of the mission. By the end of the show, anime onlies will know more about Nier Automata than people who have only played the game.

I never imagined A2 used to be like that. In fact, I kept wondering for most of the episode if it was really her, and the ending confirmed it.

Also, did they just kill off Anemone in the anime? Well, tbf, they never showed her fate. She just stayed behind when they were going down the elevator so...

EDIT: I also love that one of the first things we see in the episode is that Lily was defragging. 90s kids will remember that particular image

Yes. Lily died along with the others in the original story and Anemone was the one who survived, they chose to have Lily replace Anemone in the anime for some reason.

She did in the game and original stage play too. After she shoots No21 to stop her infection, she leaves the area before the place explodes and that's how she normally would have survived.

I rechecked the ingame Pearl Harbor Descent Record, and it covered everything that was shown in this episode.

Most people just forgot because it was just text instead of animated with visuals and voices.

Saying it covered everything shown in the episode is an exaggeration. It remains a mere report in the end. It doesn't tell us anything about how A2 used to be like, how the new Yorha units got along with the resistance, Lily's entire existence, etc...

Which, again, shows that you've forgotten because of how long ago it was or just skimmed through because it was just text.

Go read it again. It's all there. I'm not about to post a screenshot for every line, but this should be enough to show every point you just listed was ingame.
It's certainly more impactful to see it happen with full animation and voices, but to say the events and Lilly weren't in the game at all is false.

I stand corrected. I googled Pearl Harbor record and the wikia only had a small report.

Pretty significant changes this episode.

They brought in the (ribboned) little sister machine escort quest that took place in the desert in the game and made it the reason for them to go to the Forest Kingdom.

Also since this isn't the game, 2B and 9S didn't have to do any fighting because all the mobs were cleared out by A2 already. Pretty nice way of tying things together.

Gotta say anime 2B and 9S have it easy, traveling in trucks or flying with Pascal... no need to bother with boars or deer.

The operator mentioning Lunar Tears makes me hopeful Emilmobile will show up at some point.

I was disappointed the fight against A2 ended so fast. She didn't get to show her stuff.

episode 7:

I like the design of the machines who try to look like knights. They look cool. Too bad they were wiped out.

A2 looks strong taking out an entire "kingdom" of machines. I assume there's a lot of machines there, since the kingdom was established even before Pascal's village.

androids acting more and more human. 2B is certainly showing kindness to Pascal by volunteering to help. Also 9S showing some gratitude to Pascal for saving him. Oh, and I'm also liking operator 60, maybe she go down to earth someday?

I'm worried about Pascal's village. There seem to be no other leaders there except for him. If he get destroyed, that peaceful society could easily collapse.

To be fair, A2 leaving because her weapon broke makes more sense than in the game where she left just because.
