If it comes down to that then the SDF has lost and must retreat. That's all there is to it. They won't out-medieval the empire, which a fight at the walls would entail.

Hah, funny you guys are discussing the star fort now, since I just got back from visiting one of the few star fort ruins still intact in Japan. The Goryoukaku fort in Hakodate, Hokkaido.
Famous for being the location where Shinsen-gumi leader Hijikata Toshizo made his last stand.
