They're backstory volumes there's nothing wrong with that especially since Irina and Xenovia were relative unknowns.

This will be a a 6-part Novel included in the BD/DVD Volumes.

I don't know how this will fit the current timeline and/or if it will be considered canon.

EDIT: Looks like the kids are from the FUTURE as the lightning boy said "xx years from now, a big war will occur."

It seems like Ishibumi's hinting at a potential sequel for the LNs. There's a lot more that can be done with this than just a 6-part novel in the BDs. And with that being said, it sounds fucking awesome.
