Thinking again, that idea of "Kaito vs. Kouta" is certainly possible. KR Black is Butcher's favorite series after all.

The special was fun, but I felt it was ruined at the end when they forced a plug for the movie. Was a bit annoying that we saw Kachidoki Sword mode in the special before the actual series, though.

And yeah, based on that preview, Sagara almost seems like the Overlords of Overlords.

You know, I really really really wants Sagara to NOT be evil. I mean, the "mentor but turned out to be evil" schtick is good and all but I'm getting rather tired of it.

It would be refreshing to see Sagara actually wanting to help Kouta without an evil plan.

I'm sure he's just working multiple angles, and whatever ends up playing out will play out. He seems pretty big into the whole "let fate decide" thing. After all, he's giving Kouta the lock seeds and the adapters, but what has he done for Kaito? Well, that's where the Overlords come in. It'd be boring to just give them both the same power-ups, so he'll give them differing ones to see what fate chooses as the "right" course.

Eh, I'm pretty sure he's advocating "Fight fate" and not "Let fate decide". After all, he told Kouta to "If power is only good for destroy, why not use it to destroy the rule of "hope requires sacrifice?"

The Mysterious Girl is the one who seems resigned to running from your fate.
