Here are some general notes from the panel for Sunday at AX with Kumo Kagyu:

Kagyu wore a Deadpool mask the whole time. He didn't wear a mask during the autograph signings. He was also in the audience without a mask for the Overlord season 3 premiere. The Overlord creator Kugane Maruyama was also at AX and wore a skeleton mask. I wonder if that inspired him to wear one as well. My understanding is that Japanese creators can be very reclusive and are not very keen on getting their photos taken in public because they want to maintain their privacy and don't want to be public figures. Similarly, in Kagyu's interview with Joey the Anime Man, his face was covered the whole time. Though he did take a photo with the mask with a fan who cosplayed as Goblin Slayer
Joey the Anime Man was the moderator for the panel and asked some fan submitted questions from Twitter. No offense to Joey, but he has a bit of an annoying habit of saying "With that being said." Hearing it over and over 20 times got a bit annoying.
Don't take this as news because I recall I read it elsewhere, but Kagyu confirmed there will be a third spinoff for Goblin Slayer. It's set 10 years before the main story and will cover the backstory for Sword Maiden (the blind gold ranked adventurer). So this will be around the time she was raped and blinded by goblins, and also became a party with the adventurers who saved the world from the Demon Lord. I'm curious to learn a lot more about Sword Maiden and how she went down this path.
There were some questions about the anime's content and if it would be censored or if it won't be as graphic or intense. Kagyu talked about sitting in the meetings and helping advise with the show, and he thinks fans will be satisfied with the final product.
The new key art and PV were shown that you've all seen online now. Kagyu good naturedly joked that he was annoyed he didn't get to see any of it before the panel and how he had to crane his neck to watch it. The anime director who was there then explained that White Fox got the PV ready to debut exclusively at AX...which then got released on YouTube hours later by GA Bunko (Goblin Slayer publisher). The good news at least is that all the people who got shut out of the panel didn't miss a whole hell of a lot.
Kagyu did joke about the Dark Souls comparison. He also humorously noted his Dark Souls shirt. It was this Sun Bro shirt by the way.

He basically said he wasn't overtly inspired by Dark Souls, but said that both Goblin Slayer and Dark Souls were inspired by a similar source he referred to as "Sorcery." Is that a book or tabletop RPG? I'm not familiar with it. But basically, he said the reason you see parallels is because both Dark Souls and Goblin Slayer took inspiration from that source.

When asked who his best girl is, he basically said, "Aren't all the girls cute?"
Did say he'd like to keep writing as long as people will let him.
There was a really specific question about how the story uses four specific magic elements (sylph for wind, salamander for fire, etc) but the wizard using lightning magic in vol. 4 doesn't seem to line up with that. Author basically said it's magic and doesn't always have to line up and make sense. My answer? It's fucking magic and in fiction magic can basically do whatever you fucking want. Who cares if a sorcerer can use lightning magic that's not one of the four elemental magics from like the tabletop RPG genre? Good god

Don't think that's Noble Fencer though. There's an illust of Noble Fencer right below that and her hairstyle + eyes are different to the Priestess in the picture.

I think this new Priestess is also the one in the first black/white illust, but she's in noble/civilian clothings.

I could go on a lengthly synopsis, but I'll just note some interesting things. Spoilers, just in case you don't want to get spoiled.

Spoiler for Spoilers for Volume Eight:

In random order:

*The "Sea Goblins" in question are actually Gillmen, who are demi-humans that have the Innsmouth Look in the Goblin Slayer setting. They are unjustly accused of causing damage to the fishermen of local villages, but the Gillmen reveal that the real cause is actually a Sea Serpent that has been leaving their normal feeding grounds. This is the Sea Serpent that Team Goblin Slayer is seen hunting.
*Apparently, calling something as a "Goblin" is a known Racist Insult against other races; there are also some cases of racism in purely Hume communities against other races.
*The First Chapter covers a scene that would probably be part of the Sword Maiden Side Story; just a scene where the Party is shown taking down a group of monsters that are lead by a pair of Greater Daemons with hilarious ease, and that even Lady Bishop (aka Sword Maiden) can take down high level undead with a clonk on the head, showing that she isn't defenseless in hand to hand. Later chapters show that the Party apparently were the one to clear the Dungeon, which netted them the Gold Rank and the name "All Stars" as a title, but not much more is stated; of course, that is for the Side Story to tell.
*Of the pictures in the Volume, a few of them are not Priestess herself. Long story short, the younger sister of the King looks very much like Priestess, and this becomes a plot point. *Namely, when Priestess enters a Public bath at the Capital City, the Sister makes her talk about her clothing, and steals it as a way to get out of the Capital City. You can tell the difference between the two by their bust-size.
*The Capital City is depicted to be huge, with what are pretty much Fantasy Skyscrapers in the central areas. The Outer Walls that protect the city are stated to be thousands of years old; HEA states that "that thing must be older than I am". Also, upon entering the City, Lizard Priest states that he would have trouble navigating in the City due to how packed it is with buildings and people, much less doing Shadowruns. Yes, Kumo has also added Fantasy Version of Shadowrunners in the setting; I can't wait to get that TRPG Rulebook.
*The God that produced the Goblin Paladin appears again, though in the shape of a Human Cult within the Capital. Again, they are behind the whole plot.
*The King is certainly a former Adventurer, and still has kept his edge; at a scene where he is talking with his cabinet about funds, he has a moment of idle thought where he goes "I could just go hunt down a Dragon to pay for this", which one of his trusted people, named the Red Haired Cardinal, looks at the King with a frown. You could say that the King and GS share something; both have friends who says "No". I can see HEA and the RHC share notes about their "Problem Friend".......
*The King sees the Platinum Heroine fondly, though probably a part of it is some sense of jealousy since he can no longer run around doing Adventures any more due to being King. What has to be his Party shows a similar attitude, and the King muses about how the Haru-Hero has yet another Shonen Attribute; she gets allies anywhere she goes.
*...Though said King is revealed in the last interlude that he sometimes goes about the City as a Masked Vigilante with his Party; though from the implications, it seems that he just pulls out his Gear back when he was an Adventurer and romps around in it along with his Party, so I think that those who know can easily tell who he is. This is actually a Trope from a famous Japanese TV Drama series, where the Shogun wears a disguise, beats up assholes that were trying to damage Edo, and takes off his disguise at the last moment to show the baddies who he is, and goes to turn the baddies into paste. I mean, the last interlude is obviously an homage to that series.
*The story reveals that the characters do have names when a Border Guard asks for the names of Team Goblin Slayer to be written for the record, but the narrative turns around to tease by never revealing those names to the reader. Also, GS shows his face to a pair of guards when he is asked to show his face, but again, the story only says "he showed his face" and ends with that.
*There is a legendary Tavern that has been catering to Adventurers; it apparently has history that is longer than the Guild itself, and functioned as the Guild equivalent at hotspots. When there isn't a Platinum Adventurer to turn to, the Tavern apparently moves from one hotspot to another to lure enough bodies until a Gold Adventurer tier person could be found. I think it means the Tavern owners uses the Tavern's reputation as a means to help.
*I think the Tavern's name is a shout out, but even if it isn't, it is obviously a reference to Adventurer Inns in RPG settings.
*The Tavern also reveals there are more than a few expies in the story; I only got one reference, but I won't be surprised if every minor character in that Tavern was an expy or shout out of some other story. Not surprising in the least, given how shoutout happy the story is.
*The Goblins (of this Volume) are pawns for a Human Evil Cult Conspiracy.
*The people in the Capital who are not (former) Adventurers underestimate the Goblin Threat, but the King and those who know the threat admit that they can't use the army for dealing with them.
*Sword Maiden's Trauma is apparently not known to even the King, who almost orders her to do a Goblin Hunt... but Goblin Slayer is there to save the day.
Sword Maiden is certainly thirsty for Goblin Slayer's attention. Though, she tries to restrain it, to little effect, but still.
*The Dungeon that Sword Maiden helped in the Past clear ends up being used by Goblins.
*The Goblins are shown to be capable of learning how to write, though that is probably the Evil God that produced the Goblin Paladin screwing with their minds.
*Some of the King's closest advisors are members of his former Party; one remained in the field as an Adventurer while the others slotted in different roles in the Government. One is his trusted General of the Guard, and so on.

I have no desire to get close to the anime discussion, those come later only made their arguments based on one 20 minutes episodes as if they are spewing the truth, beside, most of their arguments we had done in the novel thread already a long time ago. watch the youtube live reaction certainly is fun for GS.

now I have seen 3 summaries of #8, there are still some fuzzy points left unanswered, (some conflicting) I will try to make sense of it with more info later.

Okay something that really bothers me about this story. Why does every pretty girl want to fuck him? I get that he is a dutiful individual who is reliable, but the only one whose interest makes sense is Cow Girl (why isn't she just called 'Ranch Girl'). Every other girl shows some sort of interest in him and it gets distracting especially since it comes across as unprofessional, the Guild Girl in particular. This series could have worked just fine without this pseudo harem bent.
