At least they tried to come up with the plan to fight Metal Tyrannomon. But I still think it was pretty stupid to have just one of them fight an opponent as strong as Metal Tyrannomon alone. And that poison mist, couldn't they just fly over it with Birdramon and Kabuterimon?

I'm a bit disappointed that MetalGreymon didn't revert all the way back to Koromon. I always liked that in Adventure (and 02) the higher digivolutions were so draining that the first couple of times they were used it exhausted the Digimon so much they went back to Baby stage.
The teams they form for the next couple of episodes make sense. Split Tai and Matt because they are the strongest, split Izzy and Sora because they have the fliers, and split Mimi and Joe because they are the comic relief. |

Yeah, some questions coming out of this one. They are presuming that mist isn't completely surrounding the main base which would make most sense. But also didn't cover the option of simply flying over it.
Also was a bit down that we didn't see Koromon. Of course haven't really seen those forms period since they were already rookies from the start. The fight itself was fine though lacked the emotional nature of seeing Tai overcome himself against Etemon. Overall it was fine. Questionable tactics aside, it had some good moments. And Metal Tyrannomon was a good opponent to lead to Metal Greymon since honestly he lacked enough firepower to actually end the fight. Could legitimately drag out the fight until Greymon took a step forward. Although, if he couldn't take down one champion after that long of a fight I honestly wonder if they couldn't have just beaten him with everyone attacking at the same time... We're moving quickly forward though. Now going straight into everyone reaching their ultimate level forms in a series of episodes. I kind of wonder if Devimon won't just be the main antagonist for this whole reboot and if they'll just end if after 2 cours.

Chapter titles for the following weeks give away Garudamon, Lilimon & AtlurKabuterimon.
They really are rushing out the Perfect Levels, and makes me wonder what may be in store down the line... Last edited by RDNexus; 2020-08-16 at 13:31. |

So how was the execution of the Ultimate form? I mean, all previous series had the need of some character development for the kids in order for their Digimons to evolve. Was it some trust towards Ogremon or Toei wants to sell toys faster? Nice fight though. Now judging by the preview, it seems they aim to ship two certain characters.

First off, I loved the episode's titles "The Wolf Standing Atop the Desert".
While the fight wasn't as flashy as MetalGreymon's, they made up for it by giving WereGarurumon so much attitude. I particularly like how he stopped the stringer between his fingers. Also, surprisingly brutal imagery in this episode with how Scorpimon deleted the Yanmamon and how WereGarurumon tore Scorpimon apart. |

That was certainly a fun episode overall.
And the ultimate evolution this time felt a bit more solid. Easy enough to use some flashbacks to draw up the focus on friendship. Worked a bit better than the courage moment for Tai who didn't feel like he was acting any differently than usual. Probably due to not having a moment of weakness beforehand. Here it all worked pretty well. Heck Ikkakumon was almost the MVP getting a fair amount of work done there. Would also have loved to see the pocket dimension Gomamon was pulling his marching fishes from in the middle of a desert . WereGarurumon was a badass to be sure. A very brutal fight where he just tore his opponent apart.

The Super Evolution felt more solid? Worked better than Taichi's moment?
Not in my honest opinion, mind you. Rather, it was the other way around. Taichi's moment felt more natural than Yamato's. His pride was quite notorious ever since Greymon VS Ogremon. And he's been brave ever since Ep01, hence the subtleness. Yamato's moment felt dull, needing flashbacks that felt weird to me. It's true the staff is being more subtle with the crest activations. But this time, in Yamato's case, it didn't work too well. At least, not to me. |

While I see character development in Yamato's case, I think Weregarurumon could have shown earlier when Garurumon had that burst form in that episode where Yamato met the guys in the Digimon World.
