Her father had to step down from being the Prime Minister after all of his dirty deeds had been exposed by the as*hole upper noble house.

The as*hole upper noble house wanted to marry Eliza to their Young Master(the one Kururie punched in the face) and her father agreed after being bribed by them, but Eliza didn't want to and her mother also didn't want her to. Both Eliza & her mother left him and tried to escape to the Helen territory but they went missing on the way there.

When Kururie gets to the Helen territory he finds out that his father has fallen ill so he goes to see him only to see a handsome middle aged man, due to being sick Mr.Helen lost a lot of wight.(like father like son... or the other way around in this case)

Mr.Helen's illness isn't too severe and I'm not really sure but it might have been caused by the as*hole upper noble family.

Well turns out that while Kururie was in prison the as*hole upper noble house tried to obtain the Helen territory in exchange for Kururie's release from prison, but Mr.Helen declined and decided to believe that Kururie would get out somehow. He didn't want Kururie to get out of prison only to find out that he had been deprived of his territory.

Kururie finds out that the reason the as*hole upper noble family wants the Helen territory is because there is a railroad system & a magic train(?) under the Helen territory and of course that would bring in lot of money.

Kururie has a search out for Eliza but still were not able to find her.

At the end of the latest chapter the POV changes to the asshole noble family, in a dark hidden room the asshole father & son are having a meeting with a dangerous man and they hire him to kill Kururie & his father and to especially give Kururie a cruel and painful death, the dangerous man accepts the job.

I'm starting to think that the real reason the Helen family lost their territory and became fallen nobles in the original story(game) is mainly because of that asshole upper noble family who where aiming for the underground railroads.

Also in the original story(game) Eliza had married Kururie, but in the currently story the asshole noble family are trying to make her marry their young master, which did not happen in the original story(game). So this along with her disappearing was probably just another way to personally torment Kururie.

Imagine if Kururie had gotten out of prison only to find out that his territory had been taken and his girlfriend was forcefully married off to the bastards who had framed him and had him put in prison

Seriously sometimes in LN nobles can be the biggest & most petty of assholes.

Seems like a new translator took the novel, if they continue to do it I will restart reading it, I can understand the author regretting making the MC too OP at the start but making him a real coward that suppress his own powers and deny the powerful connections he created exactly in case things go south is worse.

He wasn't even that OP. He's a fairly good mage and an ok swordsman(nothing broken).

MC just went stupid when this arc started and it dragged it all downhill.

Doesn't seem to be one, MC wants to create a good relationship with the villain girl because he believes the game ending to be absolute and that they will end up together no matter what he does, he is just trying to be in a better position for when it happens and that the girl doesn't hate him.
The reverse trap is getting close to his friend, he is trying to be friendly with the game heroine but even put up a distance so to not get hated by the prince.
He got some fangirls in the school but that is.
The world setting was a game aimed to girls after all, more hunks than babes.
I wish for another girl after him because if not the only obstacle is the author creating bad routes one after the other.

Anyway from reading the manga and the WN it seems pretty clear that MC will go with Eliza and that is, the author probably discarded the harem route, but as a Otome game world it was a bit hard from the start.
Unless some bullshit change like the 2nd prince being a girl, the cat teacher wanting to be his pet, or Eliza minion going after him too, as the author made some pretty bad changes to have some action moments is not impossible.

Well, I hope the story gets better and the author closes it in a good way.
