But it DOES make a certain amount of sense. If they were simply lightsaber shrouds instead of separate emitters, it would work. Because then you would have a functioning cross-guard that stop lightsaber blades or amphistaves but also don't run the risk of cutting off your own fingers if the handle shifts out of your grip.

New Star Wars VII villain and hero names revealed in trading cards:
"In a fun and slightly unusual fashion, the makers of Star Wars: The Force Awakens decided to reveal the names of new characters in the form of throwback trading cards. They look a lot like the playing cards released for the original movie. But they're, well, brand spanking new. J.J. Abrams and friends leaked the playing cards to Entertainment Weekly. Designed to look like Topps trading cards circa 1977 the new set include stills from clips included in the trailer. While not all of the cards feature new characters, the ones they do feature are likely the ones you want to know about." See: http://sploid.gizmodo.com/new-charac...08247/+barrett |

Meanwhile, I just watched Star Wars: A New Hope with my almost-8-year-old daughter. It was her first viewing. There was some resistance (she's really into My Little Pony these days, which is understandable), but she soon got into it and was asking questions, most of which had to be answered with "You'll see in the next movie."
She's taken her first steps into a larger world. Endless "Passing it on" Soul

Heh thanks.
I took it further and watched Empire Strikes Back on Tuesday and Return of the Jedi yesterday. She made some pretty interesting observations before things were revealed (like correctly guessing that Vader never actually wanted to kill Luke at all). I actually didn't know about the Machete mix, but that's ok as I don't think she's quite ready to understand the politics and manipulations behind Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith anyways. So when she asked I went ahead and told her how Anakin became Vader, and why he depends on the suit, and why he hates the Emperor. Anyhow, she's hooked. Endless "The Enabler" Soul

My parents actually showed the original trilogy to me when I was a little kid. It was back when the "Special Edition" came out on VHS. Got me hooked right there. I was maybe 11 years old or so, been a SciFi fan ever since
I think I still have the tapes but I doubt I'll be able to play them on anything. My old VCR is kind of broken and isn't able to do the auto-tracking correctly. The tapes are also pretty much worn out from me rewatching them so much

Star Wars 8 in 2017 and Star Wars Rogue One set for Dec 2016:
"Star Wars 8 is set for May 26, 2017 Rogue One is the first Star War stand alone movie. Rogue One will explores the characters and events beyond the core Star Wars saga. Rogue One will be directed by Gareth Edwards (Monsters, Godzilla) and written by Oscar nominee Chris Weitz (Cinderella, About a Boy, Antz). Rogue One is set for December 16, 2016. This movie will probably feature the rebel X-wing fighter squadrons. There are reports that the concept art looks like soldiers with Halo exoskeleton armor." For example, the Stargate cartoon series was probably not set in the same continuity as the live action series. Or, in anime, the various non-UC series in the Gundam franchise could be seen as being on different continuities, although there is the whole "Dark History" issue. Or, better yet, the new Star Trek movies. |
