I can see why Sora Amemiya said her rating of Slaine went down in episode 12.

Slaine basically was running around and screwing up every good guys' plans. Even Saazbum stealth-insults him on this.

He pretty much fired at Inaho just because he was jealous

Well, Slaine as a character seems to have been made solely for the purpose of getting the short end of the stick no matter what he does. I can't blame him for anything since I don't even see him as a character anymore. He's just a plot device meant to fail as much as possible for the sake of a contrived plot. The writer's the one to blame here.

He doesn't know Inaho at all and actually tells him to stop, when Inaho is approaching the princess, but Inaho doesn't listen and instead points his gun at Slaine, and Slaine shoots him dead.

He knows Inaho is with the princess,and that the princess is still alive at that point,before he indirectly caused her "death".

He doesn't know Inaho, as far as Slaine is concerned Inaho is a total stranger who is using the princess. Ergo he actually warns Inaho to not approach, but Inaho doesn't listen, and then points his gun at Slaine, intending to fire.

Well, both of them acts like this in that meeting in ep 7 so this is just with the role reversed and the consequences a lot more fatal.

In my opinion this could have been avoided if both them weren't being idiots. If even one of them chose to at least back down a bit then it would have been fine. But nope.

Wasn't because Inaho thought he was hostile and was with the enemy?Slaine's real problem will be when if Hime is still alive,I don't see a quick reconciliation with him after she finds out what he did.

Yeah it is, though the end result is more realistic. In the last episode Slaine was very confused, he at one point in time attempts to help the Earth forces but then they shoot at him. Then Slaine gets saved by a Martian soldier, who doesn't care about Slaine being an Earthling, because Slaine is a "comrade" and attempts to bring Slaine to safety, only to get killed by by an Earthling. Slaine ends up being forced to runaway from the earth forces who are firing at him, and escapes into the Tharsis. Basically from Slaine's point of view the Earthlings were not his "comrades" in the least. So Slaine being confused is to be expected, however Inaho has no excuse. Inaho actually sees Slaine shoot at Saazbaum, but still he doesn't put two and two together.

I actually felt really bad for him during this episode, he genuinely wanted to help the Terran soldiers but they fired at him instead. By this point in time Slaine knows that he can't trust either side in this conflict.

Inaho has blood in his eye, so he can't see well remember?

At least that Terran has the decently to ask him to surrender first, if it a Martian definitely is fire first and talk second.

He appeared in a Martian's uniform and aircraft, so he should be expected to get attacked by the Terran's force.

Well, ep 7 Slaine was the one being more idiotic - refusing to answer Inaho and shot first - so this time it's Inaho's turn. Though I think Inaho's probably still wary from Slaine trying to shoot him last time.

And Inaho refused to answer Slaine's questions as well, for someone whose supposed to be "logical" he sure makes a lot of illogical decisions.

Have to rewatch the episode but I think he actually held his hands up in surrender, but they still open fired.

He can't even see Asseylum clearly when she right in front of him...

No Slaine didn't surrender, he was pointing the gun at Terran.

Because there's a gun pointed at him.

I'm mean when he just comes out of the ship, right before they firing at him again. Its only after they fire at him does Slaine take out his gun.

Inaho did answer Slaine with "what if I was?",but Slaine never answered Inahos' question and chose to point his gun,with Inaho assuming he is one of the martian traitors,not sure if I'm watching the same anime
