That comment about '11-dimensional mathematics' isn't very far off mathematically (if it wasn't supposed to be a joke). In 3D space you can map out any point/shape with just 3 vectors, and by changing the scalars Kuroko can set a limit on which object will be teleported along with her own body. Of course that's under assumption there's no further complicated calculation involved (one of the most basic forms of vector calculation), and I actually expect she'd have to do more vector space stuff but it's not impossible to do it in your head in 50-year time
In the first episode of season one of Railgun Kuroko specifically states that her power involves 11 dimensions.

Quote:
Quantum mathematics is basically what esper powers are in AC world. The faster/higher level of calculation you can do in your head the more powerful you are. A esper is basically a math geek. Accel being the strongest Esper in AC can put the current gen of super computer to shame with his level of calculation ability.
Well, when you remember that all of Mikoto's fancy hacking tricks are being done by her using her electricity to physically flip bits in computer systems, and you realize that this means she is mentally performing all of the millions of operations required to break through high-level security-systems consciously... Yeah, these kids are serious supergeniuses. Anywhere else in the world they'd proobably already be on a career track to running a multi-billion dollar company, or something along those lines. Academy City uses them as guinea pigs and risks having them kill each other.

Level 6 is the overarching goal Academy City, everything else is secondary to the higher-ups.

Funny thing is that Touma is actually a pretty intellegent guy just that he can't make any use of whatever AC teaches him in an esper ablity for obvious reasons.

Which is the reason he's failing. Not because he's just stupid just can't apply any of it for espers and well being absent a lot.

Didn't someone mention that the story setting is Touma as an underachiever from an underachieving school? It's why Touma gets into trouble with angry youths all the time. People gives the frown when hearing about the school's name. However, the school's faculty payroll consists top researchers in the city. The information maybe totally wrong.

Well... considering that the reason these kids are math geniuses is because they've been given mind altering drugs from an early age it shouldn't be too surprising that the students who don't improve are sent to a school with the top researchers who can use them to figure out why the drugs didn't work and how to make those drugs more effective.

Touma is probably immune to the drugs because of his hand.

Really... I need to check it later. As far as I remember in the manga Kuroko didn't mention much about Quantum Physics, but that 11 dimension thing somehow reminds me of M theory.

Haven't got around to commenting on this episode yet.

This was an interesting episode in terms of how this portion of the arc is being adapting. I was surprised to see scene that were only in the novel version.

The episode itself was great. It was nice to see Touma and Misaka interacting with each other again. The music and tone when Misaka found the experiment wasn't over was perfect. It was nice to see Accelerator's backstory early.

I look forward to see what is coming next.

The 11 dimension calculation is bullshit, it sounds cool but it is normal math in the end.

A 11 Dimension function in programming means a function with 11 parameters.
A multiplication of 11 Dimensional Matrices means the same thing as in 2D, but for more values.
Any operation with a 11D number basicaly means, you use the operation at least 11 times.

The only difference is that some equations are simplified in for example 2D (the ones taught normaly in school), but every decent equation has a full formulation in ND space.
And all you just have to do is to use that ND formulation of an equation.

In modern Coputer Programming you have Neural Networks -> as in programs that simulate behavior of Neurons.
Several neurons can be trained to do simple mathematical operations.
Put them together and you can use a Neural Network to solve any kind of SOLVABLE formula.
Apply it through Curriculum and you have a pack of geniuses.

the Index Ln had more explanation on the development of esper powers then the railgun manga/anime.

Which is interesting, because Index is "magic" while Railgun is "Esper" LOL.

BTW, I just realized something from reading comments...

being Touma's powers, if only he had "worked out" and become buffed, he would actually be the "strongest" in Academy City.
(basically BiriBiriVersion.jpg)

His frequent retreats ensure the lad is in good shape regardless.

And I can't imagine him working out in a gym would be safe for him, given his luck.

no matter how buffet Touma gets a single bullet is enough to take him out.

Considering the tight timeframe of the entire series, this will never happen.

Wait, so they pretty much force their students' brains to change the basic way they work?

no drugs are normally use or the level upper won't have been a issue.

That is only becuause there is no sign of high level espers enrolled on that highschool or else people would be licking their shoes like they do with Tokiwadai.

funny thing is considering the high level of the courses taught in "certain high school," the majority of its student would be consider high achievers outside of AC.

More like Index is the main series.

For a teenager he's pretty up there physically already.

However the whole point is that he is not the strongest at anything.

Higher standards of living.

Any borderline student now would be considered a 'genius' if he/she goes back in time thirty years.

Pretty much yeah. Which is not as dangerous as it sounds as it can't kill you or anything.
