AWESOME!!!! The things they do is just...unbelievable. I found myself getting stunned by their ingenuity, both on L's and Light's side. I agree however that the anime did go downhill after L's arc, but oh well. It more than redeem's itself. It makes me curious though as to

Death Note always kept me on the edge. Never knew what was going to happen. But, I guess it's not called the most cuuting- edge manga for nothing!

I give it 9/10

If the anime ended at ep25, i would give it 10/10. After that episode I loosed interest a bit, everything was little forced with all new characters... N is ok, but nowhere near L...

I agree , i didn't like the anime after that much really. So , 9/10.

Well. I'd have to say that L brought this anime up the ranks quite a bit, I personally think he's one of my fav. anime characters, that is why I think this is one of those 9/10 animes.. But then, N was introduced, and I wasn't so interested cause L just died and I didn't want anyone to take his place.. As for Light, he has cool hair lol, not only that but, he made a great rival for L that is why I think this series is a 9/10 possibly a 10/10. But, thats just my opinion.

I gave Death Note an 8. While it is one of my favourite animes, the fact that it grows significantly weaker later on is undeniable. Let's put it this way.

First part (til about ep 17, if I remember correctly) - Absolute perfection, a 10
Yotsuba arc (17-24, approx.) - 3... The story gets dull, the script stupid (so stupid in fact I was convinced the previous screenplay director or whoever resigned), and everything is just... bland
Second part (25-end) - 6... With L's death, things get worse, but it's not bad. The ending is kind of roughly executed, but morally satisfying, and brings appropriate closure.

10/10 just wish it had less of a predictable ending the only thing i was hoping for the last few eps was whether near would die, but he didn't oh and i was kinda hoping they would elaborate on what happens after a holder of the death note dies.

I gave it an 8/10. L's death was utterly devastating. Good anime, but I lost all interest after L died. His superb mind was what kept me interested for so long.

Without Mikami's fault... if Light's father had killed Mello in the first place, Light would have won really cuz his plan was just perfect and flawless..... and plus, L died which was Light's real rival and Light wasn't the one who had killed him, Rem did... but it was his plan >.<

It just feels so strange that after all his hard work and his ironically close to godly calculations, he ended up loosing in such a pathetic way. As we have all seen in the series, Light took precautions with everything and never acted recklessly, however in the last episode it seems to me that he did way too many stupid mistakes that are very unlike him. First off did he really have to say "Near, I win!" and why on earth did he not have a backup plan in case his freeky servant does something wrong or if Near and the others just do not die? It just seems so unlike him, but i also get the feeling that when Near came into the picture the writers just felt like wrappng up the story.....

Sorry if this has been posted before but does anyone feel the same way?

I agree with most peoples opinions that this is definately one of the best anime's/manga's/story's ever made but i also agree that it went a little downhill with the introduction of Near. L was a very likeable character, especially with his ideas, his ways of conduction himself, the fact that he just looked cool, his insane fitness and strenght for a guy who nurishes exclusevely off sweets and his sense of humor. With L in the picture every episodes script was mindblowing to say the least and the outsmarting competition between L and Kira was just too beautiful. However Near was just a true child prodigy, im not sure we were told his age but since mellow was 15 then i am guessing Near was around 8-9? It just became rather dull when Near was introduced because he really was made into a supercharacter, one that could read everything almost perfectly and did not have to really make any guesses about anything. Just the way he guessed who y-kira was spoiled everything for me, it was just too easy......

Otherwise great anime that will be an example to other animes of this kind in the future...

It's not that unlike him. If you'll recall the incident with Naomi, where he got her to reveal her name to him. Here, he also revealed his identity as Kira right before the Death Note was going to take effect. He didn't have a backup plan here either, and as CIA agent, I find it plausible that she could have provided him with yet another fake identity. He certainly didn't have to reveal his identity to her at all, but he did so out of pure spite and malice. Fantastic scene, though.

Besides, hasn't Light always been gleeful and sadistic? He certainly seemed to enjoy killing people who opposed him, right from Lind L. Taylor. Him not proclaiming his victory to Near would have been a lot more out of character, imo.

well basically I think that Light really had a flawless plan... and even I thought that he would won since he already knew what was going to happen.... he didn't have mistakes anyway, Mikami have and it causes Light's loss.. and saying he won I think it means that he had forseen or had expected what was going to happen... but the plan backfired leading him to destruction and craziness...

Well, I think the real reason he screwd up is because he started declaring himself God. By doing this, he thought he couldn't loose, there is no way, and even if he made a mistake things would be fine....And the Mikami isn't the only one who made a mistake. Light made lots along the way but was able to fix them....The fact is, Light made the mistake along with Mikami....If Mikami hadn't did what he did, Light would of won...If Light hadn't did what he did, Light would of won....If only one wrote Tadaka's name down, Light would of won...the fact is Light told Mikami to do what was necessary....So that was Light's mistake...He couldn't fix it because by the time he realized what happend it was already to late.
