Why is everyone dreading the 2 year skip?

I personally think they should have done a Shippuuden and gone 3 years (or was it 2 1/2?).

Made the Naruto series much more interesting/fun.

Well, here's my prediction for the chapters that resume 1 month later:
We'll see them displaying their newly attained skills, before setting out:
Luffy-He'll dodge a bunch of attacks from the island's animals with his eyes closed, deflect one when he gets distracted by something, before finally knocking every single one of them out with his King's Haki to end it fast.

Zoro-Chances are he'll fight Mihawk to a draw, and take his leave with an agreement to settle their duel in the future. The baboons will also leave him alone when he leaves the island.

Nami-Chances are we'll see one of those old dudes talk to himself in shock at how skilled Nami is, before screaming in shock to find that she's stolen something from Weatheria.

Usopp-Fat->Muscles, he might actually become strong enough to use an Impact dial without receiving the usual damage.

Sanji-Obviously there's no point in grabbing the recipes without practising how to cook them, right? So we might see cooking the meal for Iva and his gang.

Chopper-Improved Rumble mode, longer time, more transformations, less side effects.

Robin-Completely no idea, but I'm betting she'll be the first one at the ship

Franky-He won't need an icebreaker ship to get through, he'll blast through the ice on his own.

Brooke-Given how his written music made those people fight back, we'll see him either make his escape with the music, or leaving them freely because his music helped to get their sympathy.

Oh, I think Luffy's most suited to Armor Haki, given how preoccupied he is now with getting strong. Besides, like Nami said, he lacks a sense of danger.

Why? The guy's been busting his ass for a long time now (ESPECIALLY during the last few years, since he also had to juggle movie 10 into his schedule). The guy also has a family to take care of, so I say that he's earned this break. Besides, as someone else in this thread said already, this is a good way to build up suspense for the upcoming skip......

Everyone in the world who has a job needs to bust their ass everyday. Hell I work at an accounting firm, and everyone gets into work at 8 30 in the morning leaves at 8 at night, full 12 hours with 1.5 hrs for lunch.

Its a hard life. Working hard isn't something rare. And I wouldn't count drawing manga as one of the most tiring or difficult jobs either.

Lololol you mean 18 pgs a week over the next 2 months. 1 for each crew member to watch their growth. We will be lucky if they even get back into main story mode before the end of october.

Unfortunately, I have the exact opposite feelings about that (just read my posts in the previous page to find out why).....



Anyway, great chapter. I didn't comment on it before, but I love the splash page (but I really hope we go back to the ministories after the skip.... Foxy's well overdue for one!). I also kinda feel that the best thing about Luffy's training is that he has no Hancock to hound him, which puts to rest those "Hancock will bear Luffy's child" theories. Also, as I said in the last chapter thread, I'd love to see ol' Monkey-boy grow an afro post-skip....

I for one think that's shoddy writing the tattoo might not have been captured in the pictures such as if they took the pictures att the wrong angle or decided to just show his face. Or worse the world government suppressing the story.

If it was Luffy who came up with the idea alone, I'll put it down to him being simple minded, but the whole thing smells more like some one smarter and more considered. Therefore feels weird not to immediately consider the problem of the tattoos not being captured.

Luffy, Zoro and Sanji too, had already demonstrated some form of affinity towards their own Haki.

Luffy's predominantly King's Haki, as we've seen from multiple times he's intimidated others.

Zoro's fight against Mr.1 where he could hear the breathe of all things, to know where his sword is under the rubble, and basically can choose to control to cut and not cut things based on that 'feeling' where it's pretty much Mantra.

Sanji's Diable Jambe where he could friction-ignite his legs without having so much of any effect towards even his clothes. Armour.

The rest doesn't seem to have developed instances of a certain lean towards Haki.

Unless you consider Ussop's Negative Aura to be Negative Haki.

It turns out that the ringing of the bells was a diversion to distract the world from the true message, < "Glad he truly understands this" which is the "3D2Y" tattoo on Luffy's arm. < "Interesting" The crew's original plan to meet up at Sabaody has been changed to meet up at the island again...... in two years. In the words of Primacron- < "I do not like this" Until that time, the crew must get stronger so they can survive in the New World.....



-Meanwhile, at the Calm Belt, Jinbei departs from Luffy's group, < "That's sad" saying that the two of them will meet up at Merman Island in 2 years. < "Don't remind me" Luffy and co. then go to an island north of Amazon Lily, Rusukaina. < "I was right about being taken to a different island" Rayleigh explains that it's a harsh island that changes weather every week. < "That should provide a challenge" Hancock offers to bring Luffy food every day, but Ray tells her to stay put at AL while the two of them train. < "(wheezing laugh) Take that you lovesick hag" After the Kuja leave, Ray explains that the island used to be a nation that was wiped out by the rough environment, and that it's inhabited by at least 500 types of powerful beasts that are far beyond Luffy's current level. < "What an ordeal" In order to cope with such a rough environment, Luffy must learn to take control of the power known as.... Haki!< WHOA!



-Ray explains that Haki is a power that is dormant in all human beings, as it is basically a person's willpower. However, most people are oblivious to such a force. He then says that there are three types of Haki, which he demonstrates on an elephant that attacks him: First, is the "Kenbunshoku" (color of observation)* Haki, which is used to sense an opponent's presence and predict their actions. In Skypiea, this power is known as Mantra. Second is "Busoushoku" (color of armor)** Haki, which can be used to attack opponents. It's particularly useful against DF users (even Logias), and can be infused into weapons, as seen with the Kuja amazons' arrows. Finally, there's the type of Haki we're most familiar with, Haoushoku (king/tyrant's color)*** Haki, which is used as a form of intimidation. This type of Haki cannot be properly trained, as this power is merely the user's will, and will grow in strength alongside him. However, he warns Luffy to not use this power recklessly, as it can effect innocent bystanders, as well. Rayleigh then says that although 2 years is not enough time, he'll do all he can to teach Luffy the basics of these 3 types of Haki, though he reccomends that he focus on the type that's best suited to him. Luffy then puts aside his straw hat, deciding to put his pirate title on hold for a while. He then prepares to train with the Hell King......

Here's my prediction on the mentioned "colors" of Haki:

*Kenbunshoku- Blue
**Busoushoku- Green
***Haoushoku- Red

haushoku should be purple, the colour of royalty. But from the description, it appears to mean that technically King's haki isn't good for anything other a very effective crowd control?

that would make no sense. Luffys one of the rare people who can use the King's haki and you think he's not going to learn that one? Ok.

Lol luffys luffy though, even if he learns it he wont use it every fight, only against the people he needs to. And thats after they beat his ass abit and he remembers he can do it.

anyway, I doubt haki is going to be the new kamehameha. It's more likely going to be a stat booster/ weapon enhancement and the fighting will still be the same. sort of like SSJ3 I guess.
