Only thing I care about is that the characters are pulling their own weight, using whatever means they have access to. Normally I'd be a bit disappointed in Gina's end part in the battle this episode, BUT since she had to go in espionage mode, she didn't have access to her usual tools(so I assume), so her 'getting saved' in the nick of time by Sword was acceptable.
Ema was a bit sexualized too(although she had no curves, they loved to show dem legs ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)), particularly verbally in comparison to Gina here. Still loved her to death, even in the full/semi-support role she had. Liking the show so far, and liked how each episode introduced a new character, their capabilities, how they worked with Sword(battle), and the chemistry between them(non-battle). Only thing that is missing is a main antagonist. Obviously this El-Dorado is going to be the focus of the story, but that's been pretty much shrouded in mystery, thus making this show feel really like a monster-of-the-week show(granted, the orig Garo anime was, in essence, the same, but still had Mendoza as focused main goal from the start).

Oh, also, the Funi English dub is pretty spot on with the exception of Sophie. The English VA did her in a very meek/soft-spoken way which I think is pretty jarring for someone as rebellious as Sophie. Other than that, all the English voices sound proper and feel more natural since this anime is supposed to take place in not-New York. I only checked episode 1 so far. Can't wait to see how they'll do episode 2 & 3.

First episode I'm really disappointed in. We didn't learn anything new about Sophie other than her brother being a really good guy (which we could have easily guessed), you could guess who the horror was right away, and the fight was total shit. Animation took a nose dive too. At least the plot progressed a bit with Sword letting Sophie join him.

Holy shit, that thing creeped the hell outta me when it started crawling in human form way more than it did when it actually transformed. The way it broke through the ceiling and just climbed down on it gave a feeling that you're not safe anywhere ~ really nice execution, captured the moment perfectly, even if it wasn't actually that strong.

I think the episode is fine. Not great but still good. At the very least we know what Martin did for a living back then, how he looked and his attitude (to Sophie). The horror is a throwaway but not bad. Considering how the priest treated his sister, Marie, I wouldn't be surprised if she also got sexually abused by him which makes the horror's job in seducing Marie a lot easier. It's certainly better than some standard horrors in the franchise that manifested too easily out of sheer desire (I'm looking at you, Seal of Flames and Crimson Moon)
I also didn't really see such a nosedive in animation. The crawling scene (in handdrawn) is rather creepy. Overall, this is a horror episode in contrast to the previous action/heist/espionage episode.

Episode 5 was amusing. I mean, the part where Sword was in a very uncomfortable position during their mission....lol
Glad to see Gina back. Surprisingly, I like her character chemistry with Sophie already.

Gina and Sophie chemistry is certainly on point this episode =03. Despite Sophie's lack of ability, I kind of felt a teacher/student relationship like Rafael/Alfonso, but sadly, both of them still don't really feel like they play off of Sword that well =0\.
