Is not and stop saying that, Jealousy and Envy are entirely different.
The two are so mixed up in today's world hardly anyone knows the difference. Similar to how people don't know how to use Irony or when people use the phrase, "which begs the question." |

Stop with this bullshit, the same discussion took place here at the start of the series and even the adaptation proved that everyone thinking the witch of Envy has something related to Jealousy is wrong, also the people who actually read the source material did the same to stop a possible misunderstanding thanks to that crap.

And seriously? Envy doesn't carry a negative connotation? It's one of the Seven Deadly Sins! What the hell are you on? Jealousy is the one that doesn't carry a negative connotation, as long as it's not taken too far. There's a reason Envy is a sin and Jealousy is not. |

Envy means you want take away something belonging to OTHERS (which is always negative). To put it simply you are wrong on every account Edit: lol even Homer Simpson knows better

Depending on context, envy and jealousy can be considered the same thing. They can also be different. Words tend to have more than one meaning. To say they are synonymous is not wrong, because they are considered synonyms of eachother, but context does matter.

And now everyone here got baited by the same bullshit, seems like the discussion on early episodes where a mod needed to stop it wasn't enough, or the intervention of users who knows about the source.
This is just silly, considering how that's not even a question on Re:Zero. |

It's a triggering topic for Re:zero fans after all, and obviously people have to correct someone when they're wrong, especially on the internet.
That Homer video is right even further though; along with Homer, Lisa demonstrated that nobody actually cares enough that they're different and is used synonymously in daily life by everyone.

Just because an expression has been used so often in a different context than it was intended to doesn't mean that the definition changes to something else. Envy and Jealousy are different concepts and definitely not synonymous. |
