Well I used to be pretty pissed at GG for their 15-16 episodes which didn't work for apparently no reason. Since i was sort of desperate, i watched the episodes buggingly with... Totem Movie player, which managed to draw the subs with some garbage.

At that point i was getting annoyed with VLC

Then, some weeks later, i bothered to install mplayer, to avoid the overlapping subs issue... which worked. VLC was downgraded to playing AVIs.

I compared Hayate no Gotoku (1280x1024 H264 30fps) with VLC and mplayer. The latter had a very visible performance gain

And now, i read this thread. I check said episodes with mplayer. They work fine.

Moral of the story? I wish i had read this thread earlier. I agree with what GG did, and i'd rather have word spread about it

Linux ubuntu here by the way. And yes, Linux > Windows, try it out before you send us to hell
