It is interesting to know that they don't even recognize us, but I guess since we're the ones following index via however which-a-way we got into anime and it's hardly been the other way around...

I knew publishers and Authors didn't particularly care but really wonder what it'd be like if some of us were to(hypothetically) show up at one of their anime conventions and started reading some doujins...

Try white guys. Who that's white goes to japan to read anime? That would be totally nerdy and would be something said racial stereotype doesn't do at all.

Also I'm not sure if it's good news or bad news to hear they didn't know about us. On the one hand, we might get way more recognition for our colleagues stupidity on twitter, on the other hand, they think were nuts and might want to distance themselves from us and were even more screwed.

Last I checked, Viz Media didn't go bankrupt. It just didn't get enough sales and went "Ah, screw it."

Like I said before, the solution would be to license a few volumes at a time rather than the whole series (if that's possible and I think it is).

ah, I knew it didn't sold that much and didn't know the exact specific but I knew it stop. Just like ZnT too. Haruhi got good sales so it continues.

Those are the novels I followed before that got licensed.

Spice and Wolf is still ongoing in English as well if I remember correctly. I didn't know ZnT was ever licensed.
That reminds me...the last volume of Haruhi I read was Wavering...and Surprises was translated late last year. I should probably invest in catching up since Yen Press was able to do so.
