Get NicoFox toolbar, if you have Firefox. If not, get Firefox, then get NicoFox toolbar.

Nico Nico Download doesn't always work, but NicoFox's download button always does, at least for me.

Time for some meta posting...

http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm12849669

Anime ranking in Foreign anime sites (Since 2006)... based on the % of the 10's in the animesuki series polls. Figure here is better than it's own thread since moon is required to understand their reaction to our reactions.

Edit: And here is the most hated: http://www.nicovideo.jp/watch/sm12896060

I've been noticing there are some anime episodes available on the site.

Anyway for someone like me, outside Japan, to watch these anime episodes?

Necro'd.

I finally took the time to register on nicovideo. It's great for some more obscure music and stuff, but the good AMVs usually get uploaded on Youtube as well. I don't know about anime...there might be some available with a premium account, or for a limited time when the publishers are promoting their stuff. But it wouldn't have subs, and there are better ways for us to see anime anyways...

Anything else nicovideo might be good for? I'm wondering about things that aren't usually uploaded on youtube and don't require the ability to read japanese.

You need Japanese to watch most, if not all of the content on nico nico.

Otherwise just wasting your time, lol.

There are more Japanese related stuff on there though, so the more obscure anime arrangements and things will be more likely to be found on nico nico rather than on youtube, but yeah.

Naw, I wouldn't go nearly that far. It helps but it's not necessary. Like the guy who plays high-speed Mario. He says some funny stuff but 90% of the humor comes from his reactions when he dies, which usually don't mean much of anything. If you're into Vocaloid music, too, then Nico is definitely the place to be; I know plenty of people enjoy Japanese music without understanding a word of Japanese. If you can use Wikipedia to find the keywords you want to search for and memorize/Google translate a few site functionalities you're good.

Though I gotta say Nico comments are like the best thing ever.

P's high speed mario videos are awesome.

He just started doing mario world, and some brilliant person took the videos and slowed them down to "real time"... which means mario is normal speed and P is 1/4th normal speed, and he sounds like he's EXTREMELY drunk. The best part is, it's believable because he also seems like he's really bad at the game. It's side-splitting.

Ahhh, I think I saw that, but I was like, "Aw, it's not part two?" and didn't click... guess I should have. The 実況 something-or-other one?

Oh, I can understand like 50% of song lyrics on average. And less than 50% of what that drunk guy is saying.

Just can't read the characters, y'know, so it's hard to do searches and read the video titles using a translator..

I was there, and honestly...I loved all those comments spawning in the vids. They're so funny. XD

Also, in a funny way, one of the most commented vids there is YouTube's ermm...

NicoNico version: http://video.niconico.com/watch/I7OATDDMuzQ

I might be wrong in the link though... as I saw another format like this:
http://video.niconico.com/<full url>

Like this:

Apologies for bumping a year-old thread but...

Nico just updated and I'm stuck in English. Where the hell are the language options?

Language options should be at the bottom of the page (if you haven't found them yet)

Ah, thank you so much. I was checking the account settings and it was nowhere to be found. Didn't expect it at the bottom of the main page.
