Its absolutely astonishing that Gai w/6 gates moved slower than Lee w/ 5 gates. Animation-wise. To be fair, the other parts of the episode was okay...except that the Gai/Kisame running side-by-side part with the water-clone made absolutely no sense.

Oh, and good animation = Naruto movie 3. I'm not talking about the art, btw.

gate-6 open and speed showed like slower then Lee without weights ?!?!
what is that?
that was just lame lame lame
when He said gate-6 open I was expecting to see nothing of Gai but a line of colors moving in incredible speed, but instead he is completely visible as a normal person.
what the?

when Lee opened the 5-gate against gaara, god damn that was well animated.
so why did they do such a bad job this time?!?!?!
I just don't get it

really disappointed with the animation for the gai fight. usually they put so much effort into lee fights i was expecting them to give gai something good.

Defintely some true words mate.
I remeber the first Shipp. episode and it was full of promising content music was good animation quality at the beginning was very nice yes it just reached my expectations.
The animation team of Naruto was on a 2year vacation trip now this scenes which are so important and which we have been waiting for so long need a little bit of love thats pretty much it. I can`t understand it :-(

Agreed, I thought Gai in 6th gate mode would be all red and veins bursting, but I guess the animators were lazy in this episode. His speed should probably equal that of 5th gate Lee or to a certain extent, bankai Ichigo

On the other hand, Kisame looked too cool in this ep, showcasing his range of water-based shark jutsus, simply badass. I'll have to admit, I'm beginning to like Kisame a lot more than Itachi now.

Geez, I can handle slow pace episodes, but the animation sucked badly especially Kisame's face. I posted an image comparisson below of the manga to the episode.

This was the one episode I'd been looking forward since I read the chapter. I'm not much of a manga man, but I couldn't stand the filler, and I needed a Naruto fix.

I was really excited about this episode. I was thinking about Rock Lee vs Gaara and Lee vs Kimmimaro. I couldn't wait to see how awesome Gai was after opening him some gates.

I don't think I've ever been this disappointed, ever.

I have no problem with good filler. The stuff with Jiraiya teaching Naruto to cancel genjutsu was cool. But filler that involves Gai getting the crap beat out of him is not. Also, seriously, why were the sharks so small in the anime? In the manga, they looked MASSIVE. Why is Gai so slow? Why is Gai with six gates open crap? Why is Kisame fast enough to get away from him for a while?

....I think this is it for me.

Given that Gai was underwater whilst he opened the gates, which may explain why he moved slowley.

Geez gai got the shaft this episode...His showcase episode and it gets animated that horribly.

Aside from that looking forward to naruto's mind rape next episode.

It really is sad how slow Gai was moving. They made Lee so fast in the Gaara fight that your almost looking for Gai to be carrying a couple dozen anchors. Kind've was sad in that regard.

I had no problem with the explanation to Naruto about how to deal with illusionary techniques. Made sense and did a fine job in doing what it was meant to.

The Neji Tenten moment was alright. Makes you wonder what has been going on there for the past few years.

It really shocks you how things have changed. Before the filler arcs Naruto was the show I was always excited about seeing. Now we're back but it seems like it lost something (animation, pacing, representation of character speed). It's really too bad this episode had to suffer. Hopefully one day they'll really get back to the quality.

Well it wasnt that bad but the pace was indeed bad. Besides...wasnt opening gates supposed to damage your body? Kisame said that he was healing instead.
Can someone explain that?

I am amazed by their lung capacity....they held their breath for so long. Gai was staring at his opponent for atleast 30 seconds before making his move... what an adorable sensei eh?

Actually the Animation really sucked , maybe you guys were talking about the Artwork , not the way they were animated

if you were compare shippudens animation to the previous Naruto series ...
