Oh, 60-90 mins first episode or airing 3 episodes back to seems to be a common strategy for a high profile new anime recently. Sometime, early part of the story might just not good enough to catch people attention, and rushing the content to reach 'interesting' point in the first episode is risky.

I don't think that's the case here entirely, considering the Airing Date.

I mean it's airing on 21st October (aka., the 3rd week of the Fall Season), which is quite late for a high profile new Anime.

You can even say that the Anime is being delayed by 2 Weeks, which is why we are getting 3 Episodes at once to balance the rest of airing schedule.

My guess is that one of the Series airing during the current Summer 2023 Anime Season might be eating into it's previously planned airing schedule, which is why it's getting a dump of 3 episodes to keep this in balance.

One of the likely Anime to do that would be "Zom 100" which is having production issues and it's airing is getting delayed somewhat.

Reign of Seven Spellblades is also a possibility. It has 15 eps planned apparently and it airs in a similar slot so it is also a possibility that they decided not to make them DVD/BD only or strream them later.

Looks like they recasted everyone besides MaoMao from drama CDs. I do not mind it for the most part but I think Yoko Hikasa was a more fitting choice for Gyokuyo than Atsumi Tanezaki.

Is that normal? No wonder the seasonal lists had almost no seiyuu list for this. Sigh, Yoko Hikasa looked like she was back on the up.

I was surprised too. Recasting Jinshi was predictable but why changing all other cast. And Atsumi Tanezaki has at least 3 lead roles this season already (Frieren, Anya and Chise, unless I miss more of them)...

Is this why the previous trailers only had Maomao voicing? Really hope this changeup doesn't hurt the adaptation. Wonder if was specific relations/talent agency interactions causing this.

It's very rare for Drama CDs cast to carry over to the anime. So yes, it's normal and nothing against her.

That said, since they kept Aoi Yuuki, it was reasonable to assume they'd keep the rest. But nope.

I won't say it is that rare. Chances are about 50/50 normally. But people hoped for this one as it already had a pretty good cast an they kept the main one.

Well, the cast they have for the anime is pretty impressive still (and, y'know, Aoi Yuki) and everything in the trailer from the music to the animation looks great .

Well, Audio Drama's get low focus to begin with (since they are usually in a Special Edition of LN releases, which is costly so most people would probably just buy the regular one while only hardcore fans would buy the SE with the Audio Drama).

So it's cast not getting roles in Anime isn't that surprising, as unlike the Audio Drama, it has a more broader scope and reach.

As I said, I am only really disappointed with Gyokuyo recast. As her VA already has ton of roles this season while the Drama CD one was more fitting for the character.

I am a bit surprised that VA's of characters like Maomao's 3 Sisters (aka., the Three Princess of Verdigris) got revealed before the VA's of Gyokuyou's 4 Maid Servants.

Since of the 3 Sisters only 1 gets early appearance in LN Vol.1, while the other 2 gets it later at the end of LN Vol.1.

On the other hand, the 4 Maid Servants of Gyokuyou play a more regular role for the majority of LN Vol.1 plot, and later on as well.

Maybe their Audio Drama cast is going to take the role in the Anime as well?

The first merch offerings are very insulting. This is bushleague. Given what the Frieren ones offer, this is just pathetic. Seriously hope they didn't skimp on anything else.
