Oh man, seeing Joe saying "you're my partner" to Goemon is awesome. They've just met and there's already a bond.
Gesomon is also a Digimon I remember from the original Digimon series. So much nostalgia...

Nobody thought of telling Joe that time flows differently in Digital world. Well it was probably for the better. There's a chance that he would want to stay there to study 'til his exams.
And of course Koshiro still didn't reach Digital world.

Well that was actually pretty nice. A different way of handling Joe stepping up, but it still worked. And yeah it was a good thing to fail to note the time thing. Otherwise it really does take away from his resolution to choose to fight instead of hiding out and studying.
And honestly it was a pretty good fight against Gesomon. Definitely a strong opponent, but makes sense considering almost none of them could fight him in his element. Besides he was chosen to defend things and a totally weak guard would be pointless. One thing I will give this season above the others is that I'm not constantly worried about them running out of gas and devolving in a hurry. Maybe just my memories, but it felt like fights had to happen fast since they were on a very short ticking clock before they went back to normal. Instead they can actually tackle the idea of just flying where they need to go on Birdramon.

I guess now the plot move a bit faster since it seems Takeru and Hikari will be kept for later. After the "Our War Game reboot", it seemed the pacing became quite slower to introduce the rest of the cast.
About Joe, his episode reminded me of Tri. where most of his concerns involved his studies. I remember reading that the types of studies Joe had at his age were important for teenagers so they recycled this element for this reboot/remake.

It used to be that chosen digimon had to eat and rest before they could digivolve and fight again. Now it seems like they have unlimited stamina. I don't recall seeing them devolve because they ran out of energy and this season.
And of course again, goddammit Koshiro! Get your a$$ to the digital world already!

I guess the whole stamina thing is not problem considering they made Omegamon so quickly. Then again, Taichi and the others have been more involved in danger in this series which was kinda the modus operandi for season 1.

I am now rather curious what if any role they are going to have for Leomon in this series. It's just not the same if Leomon isn't forced to make a tragic sacrifice...
Guess they transitioned Ogremon from Leomon's rival to Tai/Agumon's rival. It worked out alright. This version was far less chatty, but did get a badass moment at the end there. More questions hang around though. Is Devimon going to be made an Ultimate in this story now or is he going to be considered so darn OP that he qualifies as one in power even if he's only a champion in technical terms? We are clearly heading towards getting ultimate forms before even facing him. And I can't imagine he's controlling digimon that straight up outclass him. On the plus side...Izzy finally arrived! I cant give Tentomon a break for running out of gas. He's been flying for days!

The pacing is really breakneck at this point, if the next episode preview is any indication. If it is that long, lets hope this means they have some more interesting things down the line. Maybe mashing 02 into the second half?

Man, what a disappointment. When I saw that they are going to face a perfect level digimon I was hoping that they will win by having all 6 adult level digimon gang up on him. Now from the preview of the next episode it seems that we are getting Metalgreymon early.
Early in first digimon adventure you could have team of digimon of lower level gang up on one of higher level and win. Anyone remember this? But then it became that if you wanna beat a digimon of a certain level you absolutely need one of equal level or higher. What's the point of having a team of digimon then? Kinda lame if you ask me.

And Gatomon, when she was introduced, could solo the entire hero Champion team. Same level technically, but she just solo'd them. And some were so weak they were treated as if a level or two below, like Pumpkinmon. |
