Yes, they most likely build it on their own. According to novel they are surprisingly dexterous. In matter of fact Harpy village were there long before Lindworm.

That said the Harpies actually trade lot with Lindworm that has high lot of demand for meat they hunt, so it's not out of question they hired some craftsmen to upgrade their village at some point.

I wasn't even surprised that he would limit there sight, given how they do it for carriages to keep the horses calm in traffic.
What did make me go "da Heck?" though, was the bridle and Harness.

I also doubt Tisalia would be particularly happy about the proposed arrangement .
How do they even expect that to work... I mean Saphentite has to be heavy too, but horses can weigh an average of 300-1000 Kg, according to google...And I doubt that their hands and necks are really what is taking up the majority of that weight.


I mean, Saphentite is heavy probably heavy too, but those three are in an entirely different league .

That aside, I got no idea what Lorna's and Kay's idea of escorting actually is, as one of them should have walked up front.

We got a few good shots of Saph's teeth too, showing that she does indeed have poison fangs, so the whole poison thing is really not that surprising. In the end, the other doctors ban on a relationship between them might actually have to do with Lamias being lethal.

Episode 6 is up. Seems this show is exploring all kinds of the most classic monster tropes. Now, there's even harpy and she's lucky a knowledgable doctor like Glenn is in town.

One other thing I find kinda interesting about the show is the biology of the creatures, for instance..harpy's ability to molt.

By centuries you mean since 1714 and while MMnO world is quite ahead in some aspects its still effectively in middle ages, which few centuries precede that. Of course noone can denny real reason is indeed to get armpit fetish in. Doesn't mean there is problem with in-universe explanation.

There is a problem with the in-universe one because it's not true at all. Mercury thermometers are plenty accurate. Must people are just scared to take them into their mouths and use their armpits instead. Also, resetting them is a bit of a hassle. My Grandmother can't reset hers anymore for years now.

Him being able to measure heat with his hands would also rerquire him to know his own temperature first, which isn't constant in humans at all.

Accuracy should depend on quality of glass tube and purity of mercury. Either could be issue in universe. Also Temperatue of healthhy individual have minimal changes (about 1 degree Celsius). using hand or foreheads to check other people temperature is pretty common and to be able get some accuratge guesses should be just matter of experience as extension.

Hands as a way to measure temperature isn't just a Classical thing.

Avicenna (980–1037) said that fever was the increased temperature of the heart (Canon I, part 4), so he checked the temperature by touching the chest over the heart with the hand.

This system was used during the Middle Ages and the Reinassance in Europe. It also helped to check the pulse.

Avicenna based his works on Galen and Hippocrates, perhaps they checked the temperature this way, too.
