Honestly, Ochiai's thinking is just skewed. If you have a player that you think is so fragile that losing their top spot breaks them, then they clearly don't need to be in sports, and you really shouldn't be catering to their whims. In the long run it's not good for anyone.

I don't think he's that concerned about the long run. Just the high school years.

Oh, I know. But, that's why he's a bad coach.

Chris-senpai...

Kind of impressive that they got Nobuhiko Okamoto back just to voice two Ryosuke lines, when just showing his texts on-screen would have been enough.

I'm as worked up about the upcoming match as Sawamura is, and I guess it will take up all six remaining episodes.

Nah, I don't think Furuya will come in. This is a growing episode for Sawamura. He'll make a comeback.

Sigh.. so after some improvements this season, they've regressed to ending the series on Furuya again... sigh...

I know I shouldn't revel in others' suffering, but I'm laughing my ass off.

I think the director and the head writer, knowing they had 52 episodes to work with, should have planned and paced this season in such a way that it would end with the moment Sawamura officially becomes the team's ace, instead of having it happen in episode 45 and then spending the last 7 with Sawamura botching his first game with the ace number, followed by Furuya playing his best match in months.

Anyway, right now the anime is less than 40 chapters behind the manga, which would be barely enough to fill 13 episodes, so I guess we'll have to wait at least two years before there's enough material for another yearlong season.

This season ended the way it should, with Sawamura standing on the mound as Seidou's ace. However, much like Chiyahafuru's third season finale, it had to skip some stuff in order to get to that point.

I checked out the corresponding manga chapters, and between the scene where Okumura asked to watch the Yakushi/Sankou match and the bit where Kataoka talked to the team about the match against Norikane, almost 19 chapters' worth of material got skipped, although pretty much all of it was focused on the other teams rather than Seidou.

If the show comes back a few years from now (and the end card gives me hope it will), I hope they'll go back and adapt the skipped chapters, maybe as OVAs like Haikyu!! recently did with the two volumes that were taken up by non-Karasuno matches. Just to give you guys an idea of how close the anime was to catching up with the manga, the chapter that concluded the Seidou/Norikane match came out just 10 weeks ago.

I'm pretty sure that another season will come out eventually. Long running baseball series always seem to get sequels.

As for the finale, I was actually rooting for the captain of the other team against the villain Furuya. He had a bittersweet victory, but the story must go on.

It's kind of sad that when Sawamura will finally, truly shine, the series ends. At least there are more things to look forward to when the series comes back in probably 2 years.

Well seeing the growth of Sawamura throwing more good pitches growing more and faster then Furuya who just keep throwing fast balls Well seeing Sawamura getting the ace number for all his hard work but a shame not to see him pitch more before the end

6/10 Anther weird place hey leave off
