Ah. It seems I am not the only who's made silly mistakes in this thread hehe. This episode was so intense and kind of shocking (even though it was easily predictable) that we're ending up losing concentration as well.

It's 4:30 am here. I sensed this episode was going to be awesome, so I had to spend the night watching it. It's been a long time since I was such a fanboy of an anime show. But I am damn glad I have watched it.

A true bittersweet episode (bitter on the emotional side, sweet on technical one).

I'm speechless. This was SUCH a good episode, I felt like I was watching the final episode. I was already half expecting them to kill off Kamina with the episode title and last week's preview, yet they still managed to completely blow me away. I'm ready to call Gurren Lagann the best series since GEASS, which isn't something I'd say lightly.

It had been discussed openly on /a/ for about a week. Some people may have been in the dark, but they're probably weekend warriors.

Kamina is a bit of a hero (or to use the vernacular of /a/, "an hero") to much of /a/. They're just giving him a proper send off. Poems were posted. Some people promised not to commit the Sin of Onan for an entire day. The Ashita no Joe reference was posted. Viral and furries were cursed. Etc. Etc.

but seriously, touching episode with a lot of action. easily one of the best anime episodes to have ever been aired...

And Kamina just did a Gai Daigoji. We could see a 2nd Kamina make an appearance before he croaks again. Do you really want to go thru that again? The 2nd time was worse than the first time imo.

Is it safe to say that Kamina's probably the only guy who managed to reach Yabuki Joe and Raoh's level of epic death in only 8 episodes?

I can only hope for epic-level drama to occur next episode.. too bad it's a freaking week away...

I really respect gainax's ability to follow-through with a death we know which was coming, and not sugar-coat it at all(hopefully no faux-revivals).. how they'll manage to top this episode.. I have no idea, whatsoever, it would be unbelievable if they even come close, because damn..

R.I.P. Kamina, but damned if I must say your stories will be told for future generations, as the most epic/badass/justplainawesome character of the year..

And a completely different spoiler-note.. Despite Kamina's death being, an extremely emotional moment, maybe it's because I'm sappy, but, the scene where Simon is running away, screaming "kankei nai" just really hit me hard. Despite the obvious YokoxKamina pairing, it was extremely hard to watch that scene, it just really hit me hard.

You have to wonder how Simon will lash out at Yoko, in the next episode.. Or at least, I just feel there's an inevitable, "You liked Kamina" shouting for Simon, that will probably also be painful to watch..

pps. Ever notice how main characters never get the big breasted stars? Haha, they always end up with the flatter ones. Poor YokoxSimon.. I really wanted to see that happen, despite knowing it just can't..

As unbelievably amazing as this episode was, I have high hopes as to how they will follow this up. Episode 9 will, in my opinion, a make-it or break-it as to how the rest of the story will play out..
