Denji may not want to live as a dog again...but when you have a bewitching woman like Makima who is nice to you, feeds you, seems to treat you with some semblance of dignity, and gives you yet another lap pillow, can't you just help but fall in love with her? Of course, again, Makima has Denji wrapped around her fingers but at least it's a living with a beautiful woman
 .Oh hey, Denji pretty much confessed. Too bad Makima was out of ear shot. Although she said he's his type, which is basically flirting/confession all unto its own, although that depends on how she sees people like Denji  .Ah, yes, the classic dark-haired, serious, Shonen rival/partner who has a tragic backstory and is out with vengeance...and he and Denji are already hitting it off well! Aki trying to be a "nice guy" by making Denji quit, even though it seems like he has a thing for Makima too, so there's a lot that's driving these two to blows  !Aki beats up Denji, and then Denji kicks his balls. Multiple times. Always go for the nuts, I say! And then Aki gets up and hits him again but Denji just goes back to hitting him in the balls. If it works, it works. Although now I'm morbidly curious to see what the Nut Devil would actually look like  . Makima can see how their odd couple dynamic will work and assigns them to live together, with all the comedic hijinks you would expect now that Denji can live the good life with the ultimate toast, baths, and a working toilet. And poor Aki has to live with a practical freeloader  .So not only does this world have Devils, but they have Fiends who possess human bodies and use them to kill. I feel bad for whoever gets possessed  . I love how Deni goes axe-man instead of Chainsaw Man (chainsaws would be kind of a lot in that small room) and makes a spiel about how he could be friends with Devils if he had a chance and wanted to give the guy a quick death...when really all he was after was the porn. I don't think he was 100% lying, but what he wants more was the boobs. And Makima's boobs  .Ai Fairouz as Power! Once again voicing a loud, hammy, blonde woman with a massive rack! And that's enough to win Denji over. Although I'm kind of curious about the woman Power is possessing considering she's a Fiend  .Seems like Power has blood powers? She can smell it and she can make blood weapons  . ED 2! A nice, bouncy, beat of everyone just lounging around and Denji falling into a dreamlike reverse Tokyo until his team wakes him up back to reality  .

I'm seriously counting on the amount of hype this show has to keep me going for the time being. Because this episode was...fine I guess.
All the characters are pretty odd so there isn't necessarily anyone I'm attached to yet. But there's a good chance for that to build up over time. At the very least it looks good.

Makima seems the kind of girl that acted not for kindness but she thought that denji would be useful or it's better to keep it on a leash, so she said the right things and acted sweet and kind to win his loyalty. I think it's the same with the sword guy.
But I guess denji would be ok even if that the case. ps. that was one of the most satisfying kick in the nuts ever. |

Makima fixing Denji's tie had more animation than the entirety of Hoshi no Samidare.
Makima's voice is working surprisingly well for me. For now, at least. I'm waiting for her to voice the serious scenes. Denji was disgusted when he realized Makima wanted to treat him like a dog just like the yakuza he worked for but some food, hug, and lap pillow made him forget all about it. Also helps that Makima is gorgeous. Aki came off as a dick but I think he really was trying to be nice. If Makima had briefed him about Denji's situation beforehand, none of that would have happened though. Denji doesn't have the luxury of being able to walk away, it's work or be killed. He doesn't mind because he's already living out his dream. Partially. He still needs to get laid! But for now, he's aiming for second base. Quote:

The animation quality was improved drastically compared to episode 1 and little in the way of CG this time which is nice, though they did cut somethings out of the source material.
Seeing people already voicing their skepticism of the show after all the hype going around, and as someone level headed and caught up with the manga let me say that Chainsaw man is in fact DISGUSTINGLY overhyped for what it actually is. It's not a bad series by any means but not worth 1/10th the hype it's getting, so try ignoring it and just treat it as any normal series if you want to try and get any enjoyment out of it because it won't ever meet the "expectations" set by the hype. |

I love how Denji and Power are bickering like kids and the camera is focused on Makima's fine behind on the bench as she just listens. And then she gets both kids to listen like the pups they are playing into her hands .So Power from her Devil nature has an insatiable hatred for humans, but she did care for a cat that was stolen from her by a Devil. Not that Denji cares about cats, but he can relate because he had Pochita...and Power realizes the best way to motivate Denji is to promise full access to her amble bosom! And then Denji suddenly takes the cat kidnapping personally  .I guess if Devils are as powerful as the visualization of their danger, then yeah, a Chainsaw would be pretty well up there . Some really weighty topics about life, death, and the current nature of Pochita in the train...but all Denji is really focused on is those massive boobs, as he should !Denji's smart enough to realize Power was leading him on but not quick enough to avoid her knocking him out so she could sell his blood to the Bat Devil. To think it seemed like they were growing closer  .Although Meowy is actually real, and the Devil Bat was holding him hostage, but Power just lied about what she had to do in order to get him back. Not that it matters because the Devil Bat eats Meowy and Power anyways, and right in front of poor Denji  .Naked Power! It's kind of sweet how she initially took care of Meowy because she wanted a good meal after slaughtering a bunch of animals, but grew attached to the genuine company. Much like Denji and Pochita !Chainsaw Man returns! Not only because he saw himself and Pochita in Power and Meowy, but because he still has to cop a feel! It's Chainsaw Time !Well, good thing that office lady avoided getting smushed. Denji at least has some awareness of getting civilians out of the way even if he doesn't feel strongly enough about it to not toss a dude's car with him still in it right after the Bat Devil. At least the dude bailed in time and Denji can confirm his chainsaws retract in Devil form and he has super-strength  .Never has a mans' determination to cop a feel come off more intimidating. And then Denji slices through the Bat Devil in a satisfying finish !ED 3 is a pretty psychedelic and violent ED, that wouldn't be out of place in a horror anime, and really reflects Denji's life well. We even have angelic Makima and some slice of life stuff with him, Aki, and Power at the end  .

Kind of funny how Aki and Power think Denji is a total dumbass because he said stuff that sounded ridiculous to them but is actually true (he was friends with a devil and Pochita is in fact alive inside him).
Power may hate humans but she likes cats, so she's cool in my book. The fight against the Bat Devil was bloody awesome.

Also it's funny that the Bat Devil easily ran out of cards when against Denji. He can't eat him coz he tastes bad. He can't destroy him coz he's durable. He can't overwhelm him coz he fights hard. He can't even threaten him coz there's only boobies on his mind. What do you even do with a guy like that?

While I still don't really love the show, I do think this episode was pretty solid.
The ending was a bit odd. Kind of expected it to wrap up with confirming the status of Power and the cat. I'm sure she's alive since she's in the OP, but still figured we'd see her roll out of the corpse or something. Action remains a nice draw for the show as well.
