Mr Bean is still as awesome, love how he ended with the piano scene.

The scene where he running before he started to cheated, is that being displayed on the stadium as well or is it just for the people who watching it on TV/Monitor?

Maybe the opening ceremony itself is not what's most interesting, but it is hilarious to watch while looking at all the tsukomi's in some forums.

I laughed when the commentator paused to describe North Korea. "North Korea, one of the most (pause) secretive ................"

I kind of wish all countries would wear traditional clothing instead of just handful of African, Central Asia and some Pacific island countries.

edit: lol flag bearer of Palau was cosplaying as George Washington.

LOL, secretive happens to be the official synonym for 'f'd up'. /kidding

The industrial revolution part just makes me wish the world went steam-punk instead and not all this fancy motor stuff >: (

Stream quality was terrible. I wish I had a TV.

Only 5 more minutes until the NBC's North American tape delay begins!

I heard the opening was pretty good. Cannot wait for the James Bond part.

I am still trying to figure out what the organizers are trying to show by having the two kids texting each other.

Impressive way how the fire was lit, was slightly disappointed at first... Until it started to move.

Started to laugh when I heard thunder noise but turns out it was fireworks. Seems like there about 15 second delay between the live video and at the stadium.

Impressive enough, but I thought Beijing's was better. I felt like it had a lot more universal appeal. This was a bit too "Cool Britannia" for my liking. I think they should have done more along the lines of the industrial revolution scene.

In fact, it felt a lot more like propaganda/marketing then what the Chinese did at Beijing, which had a more subtle theme running through it. Zhang Yimou>Danny Boyle

The events in Beijing can never be replicated. What happened was that the CCP used Beijin 2008 to throw a "coming-out" party to show that China is currently at a high point and spared no expenses at doing so.

London 2012 is still good considering the current Euro Debt crisis and all.

That was a great ceremony in my books. M. Danny Boyle really made his mark with this. Among many things I really liked: the kids singing Jerusalem/Danny Boy/Flower of Scotland/Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau, James Bond, M. Bean, Chariots of Fire, the Olympic rings, and Sir Paul McCartney of course.

Giving those kids the chance to light up the torch was a very good initiative too.
