I remember being surprised by Fresh when the Cures revealed their identities to their families and friends before they went to the final battle.

However, I was expecting the roommate to be the secret keeper first. Then hello Tomoyo (except as an artist)/Ban.

I didn't even remember the PR announcement...probably because I try to forget Doki.

Anyways, I really want to see Haruka's roommate become a Cure somehow, or even be the silver-haired girl in the OP. Imagine the look on Haruka's face! She's got some pretty epic faces.

If she does become the fourth Cure then I doubt she would wait so long to be part of the team, unless they're actually doing something (kinda) different and having a distant Cure that still fights the same enemies, kind of like Cure Muse.

Haruka walks in and finds Yui with a silver wig and a violin. I can imagine that one guy from Spongebob.

Hmm? Plenty of Cures only join late in the series. It's a tradition. It's common enough that I've even nicknamed them "late arrival Precures."

I did say "kinda," but I also have a bad memory.
Didn't Muse join in the middle of the 30s? That was what I was thinking of (AKA only episode count I can remember).

We are almost at 550 episodes, ya know

Actually, I could probably name each Cure's Cure Form if I had to. Civilian names...not so much.

Spoiler for late arrival Precures:

Splash Star had Michiru and Kaoru (if you want to count them) who, during the final battle, gained the alternate Cure forms that Saki and Mai weren't using at the time.

Fresh Pretty Cure had Setsuna/Eas become Cure Passion at episode 23.

Heartcatch introduced Cure Sunshine at episode 23, reintroduced Cure Moonlight at episode 33, and even brought in a legacy Precure in Cure Flower in episode 44.

Suite gave us Cure Beat at episode 21, and Cure Muse who had been around for a while, but who didn't really reveal herself until episode 35.

DokiDoki had Cure Ace show up in episode 22, although this was perhaps the least well-handled of any of them, as there had been no signs of her existance at all beforehand and she turned out to be a character who had never appeared before.

So, it doesn't happen all the time, but it's not uncommon.

I admit I spent nearly an hour between the time when I started that post and the time when I hit submit going back through the episodes looking for everyone's arrivals. Initially I was thinking I could include Milky Rose, but then I rediscovered that she showed up in episode 10, which hardly counts as late enough to be late. Unless you want to count her as late because she's only a Precure for the second season of Yes! Five...

Have to say I was kind of surprised how optimistic this episode turned out to be. I thought it'd be more of a classic case of overworking blowing up in ones face. Instead it was more the case that just putting in enough effort will lead to an ideal result. I expected more that Haruka would end up sleeping through the party (which wouldn't be an episode) because she overworked herself. I suppose pure energy can overcome sleep deprivation . Bit strange that she presumably fell asleep less during class than she did when only working on the dress.

Did a decent job giving everyone some characterization in this. Minami having a firm stance that it's fine to go after your dreams so long as you don't inconvenience others. Also a pretty firm believer in what Haruka can accomplish if she puts her heart into it. Kirara also getting some nice focus as more of a voice of reason/caution. Her being worried that much was completely valid considering how exhausted Haruka looked and acted. Less of a case of not having faith as it was lessening an extreme burden.

In the end it all works out. Teamwork saves the day and Haruka somehow finished her dress with enough sleep so she won't miss the party next episode.

Kirara actually gave the answer to Haruka's problem herself a few episodes ago: if you're already working at 100% just to do everything you normally do; when something else you need to do comes along, well, you just need to work at 200%. Welcome to a smiling optimistic series where stuff like that actually works out.

Tired Haruka was cuter than her normal self for some reason...huh.

Glad to see that Minami trusted Haruka's abilities from the beginning, and that Kirara came to understand Haruka's hard working optimism.

I know the monster designs in PreCure are pretty lame, but I couldn't help but thing of an Easy Bake Oven. I know it was a microwave/normal oven, but still.

Gotta admit though - the oven/foe in Ep 08 was tough! I liked the fight scene animation as well - was that move Cure Twinkle pulled off early in the fight the famous upside-down spinning kick that Chun-Li became famous for?

I found it kind of interesting to see MInami somehow understood Haruharu could do it and Kirara "couldn't", or rather perhaps Kirara was more worried % wise about Haruka collapsing? Interesting contrast. If there was a "message" or "lesson" from this ep it seemed to be for Kirara "grokking" this side of Haruka.

Anyway - overall very enjoyable.

Oh yeah, forgot about the Spinning Bird Kick. I shouldn't have, but I did.

I mean, we see lots of straight up bouts...I mean, punching and kicking, but the spinning kick and Flora jumping on the trays were pretty awesome.

I don't think the Cures have weaknesses this time around. Haruka can do everything at once (homework, make a dress, etc.) and be very tired and still fight the enemy, Minami is perfect, and Kirara is Chun-Li.

I guess if they worked Haruka until she was dead tired and fought her alone, or got Kirara to have an argument with the other Cures and refuse to be with them or something similar.

My Mini Princess Precure Review 08

Pros: Haruka determination of making the dress.
Pros: Great character moments throughout the episode.
Pros: I really love the Zetsuborgs, Most Creative Monsters Ever
Pros: The ending scene was pretty cute.

Overall: B+

Not really much to say about this episode but it's really good development for Haruka and Kirara.

Next Time: PARTYYYYYYYY!!!!!
