The series is not really grabbing me the way I'd hoped it would. I held off reading the manga because the announcement for the anime, but I'll give it one more episode.
As much as I like the one main gag, the series feels a bit repetitive at these two episodes. |

Yeah, I'm starting to just feel immense pity for Claire. I'm sure her fate as the villainess of the story would be a tragic one. It's amazing in a sense that this doesn't feel like a dramatic improvement of her fortunes even though it almost certainly is.
Maybe the most amazing thing in the story is how everyone else just kind of shrugs off how amazingly creepy Rae is. I guess her specs and potential allow for a lot of allowances. Better to have someone that talented on your side...than not. My condolences for Rae that she has to actively dodge the male character routes. Though honestly her troubles are incredibly low. She's settled into this setting really well and is just having the time of her life.

I think one has to chuck their comparisons how this would work out in the real world overboard to enjoy this series. I am enjoying it, because it is just fun and overall quite well written. Just not realistically written.

Himedere is probably more apt, though I guess fundamentally that's in and of itself a variant of tsundere.
For the most part I thought this episode nailed the adaptation; the candid conversations about sexuality and gender are a big part of what really set this series apart. |

I wasn't expecting this show to feature a serious conversation about Rae's sexual orientation. This added a lot of nuance to Rae's character, as she revealed she had always suffered rejection in her life and had never imagined for a single moment she'd be able to get together with Claire. She's content watching her from... well, up close, actually. And she is doing her best so that Claire can get her happy ending with the prince.

You can tell Claire has warmed up a lot to Rae. She was having a nice private moment with Thane but when she saw Rae she abandoned him without a second thought to ensure she was alright. Rae couldn't even believe she just did that.

So is this just going to be the MC cockblocking Claire and the Prince until she turns gay and falls for her? Not sure I like that, it would make the lip service from the last episode lose all meaning and just make it an excuse to manipulate viewers/readers into feeling bad for the MC and rooting for her to "win".
