Serizawa did it again. He's no more than a trug and a bully.
His action sure didn't go over well with the locals. Looks like he's got some sort of a disease bothering him. Seems like divine punishment. So finally an Oni makes an appearance. Roshigumi got a chance to protect the emperor. That's quite an honor. Their popularity is certainly growing, so they're Shinsengumi now. The rasetsu experiments continue. They're getting worse too.

Even though it still is rushed I really liked the episode due to Oume and Serizawa's scenes.
Seems like my favorite scene from Saito route will get animated. Shinpachi's seiyuu made a great performance in the game during that scene so I hope it also delivers in the anime it will be very rushed so won't have my hopes up. So 1 episode left... You know, Hakuouki Reimeiroku is longer than the original Hakuouki (especially Serizawa route...) but still this got 12 episodes.

That fire sure did a lot of damage..
Experiments are getting even more intense now. Seems like they're making progress too, if you can call that progress. Who knew Serizawa actually had a gentler side.. Niimi got busted by Hijikata. Him going all rasetsu mad the fight even more interesting. Looks like he managed to perfect the medicine, but it still took him over once he tasted blood. Interesting episode.

Serizawa getting worse.
Hijikata's getting-on-Serizawa's-good-side party was an interesting tactic. Didn't think they were bold enough to kill Serizawa. At least the weather was well suited for it... Guess they had enough of his bad ways. Interesting how only Ryunosuke was on his side. Serizawa turning rasetsu was kinda expected due to his condition and situation. Serizawa's end was not a surprise, but Ryunosuke "leaving" kinda was... No wonder he wasn't in the main series. Good final episode.

So this is the end. I was satisfied with the ending, I already expected Serizawa ending but it surprised me that they included Okita ending scene too.
Now some rambling about the anime in general. Spoiler for includes comparisons with the game:
It could have been worse so I'm more or less okay with the adaptation thanks to the ending 6/10 (could have been more if it had the same amount of episodes as original Hakuouki) Aaaand with this I'm done with Hakuouki franchise (except if AKSYS releases an English version of the fandisk or Reimeiroku or an anime adaptation of Toki no Kizuna) P.S Cover of the first DVD of Reimeiroku by Kazuki Yone

I have mixed feelings about the ending, and this whole prequel in general. It seemed like they only grazed the heart of the story. They barely did anything with Ryunosuke and he didn't have much meaningful interaction with any of the characters. He was more of a bystander than a protagonist. His relationship with Serizawa wasn't developed enough to make his reaction to his assassination believable.
We didn't learn all that much about the Shinsengumi's past either. Only Okita's background was expanded. It feels like they could have done so much more. In the end, this prequel felt pretty pointless.

It was okay.....
Is it the greatest? Hell to the no. They rushed a few things and maybe he's better in the game or novel or whatever, but Christ, Ryuunosuke bugged.... The only things I really did enjoy for the most part: Hijikata/Kondou/Okita's backstory. Saito's backstory on how he came to join the Shisengumi...and in the last episode, him basically telling Shinpachi that he wanted him to live. The Bro Trio's interactions with Ryuunosuke.....especially Harada's little talk about how women aren't hos when Ryuunosuke was thinking of the Maiko. Otherwise, it was kind of meh the last few episodes. Though I am seriously surprised as hell that Ryuunosuke survived... |

One thing it really surprised is that Kosuzu's mother let her daughter go. In the game (Harada and Kosuzu route) she was such a b*tch
I'm leaving 2 MADs, the first is about Serizawa and Ryunosuke's last conversation at the end of Serizawa route (the one where Serizawa calls Ryunosuke by his name and not "dog" for the first and last time) The other one is a summary with most important scenes of Reimeiroku game (though it doesn't include KosuzuxRyu). Both of them include images and conversations not shown in the anime
