Well it's not so much the anachronism but the fact that a matsuri is being held in a European-like setting.
I bet it's a Darcsen tradition! It's supposed to be cute and it works at that. Now that we had the staple beach and matsuri episodes the next bonus will be a hot spring one. |

Unless Sega decided to somehow feature a counterpart to Japan in a re-imagining of the first game. It was a well-known (and dumb) fact that in WWII, the Axis Powers had little or no co-ordination in their strategy. Maybe, in the world of Europa, thing went differently?
Also, trade was never adequately explained in the series. Was there trade with the rest of the world? If so, what about having a team of "Japanese" delegates in Gallia when war broke out? Or simply having some curious Japanese who found their way to that small village?

Not the yutaka of course, but the idea of another world beyond Europa. Call it a bad habit, but since we already have some semblance of this conflict being a racial war, why not expand on it? Not that I didn't recognise the yukata as fanservice, but while we're at it, why not have it actually making sense?

It just doesn't seem all that necessary to fully analyze something that was probably thought up on the spot for the sake of fan-service, but I wouldn't mind discussing the possibilities of other places outside of Europa; however, this thread isn't the right place for that kind of discussion anyways.
