Nope, nothing of the sort.

Seems like this month we're getting another special navigation. Kinda lonesome watching your friends practice, huh Alice? ;_;

Seemed like an ordinary chapter, rather than a "special". I kind of miss the occasional "fantasy" chapters, but I guess Amano-sensei decided that chapter 53 would be the last of those, as a farewell to the real-life Aria.

Thought so. AQUA/ARIA's the "cleanest" manga I've ever read. Crazy ratings people...

Or it could be dragged on in some way. Normally I'd be destested by the idea, but not with Aria. It's probably the only thing I've ever really wanted to drag on.

Admittedly, I'm more than content with what we have now.

The probability of fail gets higher if the series is dragged on. However, what I am anticipating more is a nice way of ending the series. Maybe we can get a few spinoffs, timeskip, or the kinda stuff we see in those Undine Monthly publications (those neat looking manga chapters at the end) post-Aria. I imagine I'd suffer some sort of withdrawal though. But we've got a third season of anime, so that oughta lighten the blow.
It's possible Amano could pick up Crescent Noise again (In 2001: "To be Continued in next issue", wtf?).

@X10A_Freedom: Arguably, Aika's sharp tongue could come off as "offensive". I dunno, after reading it through again that's all I can come up with.

@nero23: Well, the heading was "Special Navigation", though you're right, felt like more of an ordinary chapter. I imagine the mangaka is deep in thought as to "what's next?" after what went down in nav 55.

Also, I can't help but be throughly amused by this scene:

Agreed, but with Aria, I find it so inconceivable that it can fail (so is my love for the show and manga) that I can't help but relish at the idea of going on and on and on. I know there's a high probability of ongoing series' getting much much worse, but Aria is just one of those series that I can always appreciate

That's why I was so excited to hear about ARIA's third season. With most series, I'd cringe at the thought of there being even a second season, much less a third season. I know it can't continue forever, but I'd love for ARIA to run a long time.

Considering that she has already set her eyes on Al, I don't think she intends to remain a maiden.

ANN: The February issue (on sale on December 28) of Mag Garden's Comic Blade magazine will announce that Kozue Amano's Aria manga will end in early 2008. The 60th and final magazine installment will run in the April issue (on sale in February), and the 12th and final compiled volume will ship on March 10.

I just hope Tokyopop publish it all through to the end...

I wonder if the author would bother changing this before the series ends?

Suddenly, NECRON and a mindrape end.

I'm more interested in the individual(s?) whom Akari is writing to.
Also, maybe after a break, Amano can continue Crescent Noise (6th volume has "To be continued next issue" iirc). It's only been... 7 years.

It'd be awesome if her pen pal had actually been her own version of Tyler Durden.

Another alternative would be this.

It's a pity that nobody seems to have bothered translating her other works. Roman Club, Yume Sora Kai ~Amano Kozue Tanpenshuu~, and Yume Sora no Uta Amano Kozue Tanpenshuu 2 look pretty.

Wow, I just read chapter 58 and I have to say, it's just awesome.

Spoiler for chapter 58:
I can't wait to find out how Aria ends across the final two chapters.

I don't want it to end!!! But on the other hand, good works should end on a high note, and not be allowed to stagnate and wither. And chapter 58 really was great.

Lol, Fight Club. Maybe her mailing the stuff to a deserted place, a la John F. Nash Jr.

IIRC, some group started on Crescent noise in 2003, but they disappeared off the face of the earth. Personally, I thought the Character designs in Roman Club looked like ass, but maybe that's just me.
You left out Ohi-sama Egao - it's very pretty lookin' for a one-shot.

Spoiler:
Having just finished the game a few weeks ago, the name "Metal Gear RAY" popped into my mind (hey, it's amphibious and the Marines owned it).

From the movie:
Quote:
Imagine if you suddenly learned that the people, the places, the moments most important to you were not gone, not dead, but worse, had never been. What kind of hell would that be?
-Dr. Rosen
I still see things that are not here. I just choose not to acknowledge them. Like a diet of the mind, I just choose not to indulge certain appetites; like my appetite for patterns; perhaps my appetite to imagine and to dream.
-Nash
Considering the frequency of her encounters with Cait Sith and other supernatural phenomena, that kind of ending would actually make a lot of sense though it would be one hell of a depressing twist (even worse than Ring 0's final scenes ).

Btw, do you guys actually read the manga in Japanese or do you have "some other source" for this stuff?
