Gaah!! I finally got the sound system restored on my computer but I'm out of time to properly do either Senya Ichiya or Mou Hitotsu no Birthday... **sighs** I guess I'll be skipping this competition.

...In the meanwhile, please enjoy an extremely suckster piece that I produced while using Audacity to create for the first time.

Sounds good in my opinion and the sound quality is much better than my entry!

You can enter that one!!! Just for the fun of being in! I don't think I'll have time to make something better either.

Update: I'm working on broadcasting the karaoke competition (not live though) this saturday at around 3 p.m. EST. Still trying to tie the loose ends. At least this will give the chance to people to comment on the entries at the same time. I'll update as soon as I can finalize the time (we'll probably hold the discussion in the IRC channel).
Also, a very nice person kindly donated the funds to buy the prizes for this competition (but I'm sure people enter to have fun, not to win, right? right?!?).
Still a day until the deadline arrives, so keep working!

What program would people recommend to record singing, as well as add background music to it as you're singing?

Kent, I use Audacity, which can play one track while recording another. It's quite convenient, and I *think* it's been ported to Microsoft platforms.

Like Red HamsterX, I also use Audacity to record. You can import songs and convert the recording into mp3

Well, I recorded something last saturday, and I was hoping to make a better one, but no way to be alone at home since then

Speaking about value of sound, all my drafts sound terrible. This is an example, and no, this is not my entry, but my entry suffers from the same disease.

Audacity is certainly a good way to record songs for the karacomp. Better than, say, Sound Recorder on Windows at least.
