A shame they aren't dubbing the game. The dual audio made Judgement interesting to replay especially considering Greg Chun.

I don't mind with turn based battle system but they really should EXCLUDE the 7 in title and make this as new brand spin off from original.

As long as the plot continues in the canonical timeline, it's 7, regardless of gameplay changes.

When it comes to gameplay, I kinda get how they aimed to change the formula to avoid falling in the repetition issues of Mega Man. However, Judgment was already a spinoff and kept a similar fighting system as 6 but even better because fights became optional for the first time due to lack invisible walls.

In regards to the plot, this seems like a new start although some Yakuza games like 4 tried being fresh to newcomers by focusing on other characters kinda like Devil May Cry 4.

An understandable goal. How about a Yakuza game playing like Streets of Rage? Sure, there might be one or two fan creations like that somewhere... but it actually will be released in an official capacity as part of Sega's 60th anniversary.

Started playing yesterday. Despite the major gameplay overhaul, it definitely has that Yakuza feel. I'm finding the battle system pretty fun so far, but I've only played 5 hours. I'm surprised by the focus on prostitution and the fact it's portrayed positively. Kinda of wonder how that was received in the West.

On chapter 7 now, the game is still very fun. The job system is a bit disappointing because you can't change whenever you want and need to go to Hello Work every time you wish to switch. That said, it's not like you need to switch often once you've found a good set up.

The gameplay is really good. It might be because it's the last turn based RPG I played but I'm reminded of Persona 5 quite a bit. You can get the P5 OST in the game, so it may not be a coincidence.

Graphics are a lot better than Judgement's but worse than Yakuza 6. Probably had to compromise given the amount of stuff on screen.

The main story is good, and the sidestories are fun as usual.

So Nagoshi confirmed that the RPG system was just an April's Fools joke but since Japanese players liked it, Sega changed the gameplay. Wow. I'll wait a bit to play Like a Dragon.
