some of the hair styles feel rather lame. Shame they aren't telling the origin story. I wonder what the back story is for this one though since Toma/ Mikage shouldn't be an issue anymore.

And my hype for this series drops a couple notches after seeing those character designs. EVOL had great designs, but these may be the worst of the three series.

Uh huh ? It seems Kawamori is not the one who will be directing this (only came up with the original concept). Eiichi Sato will be directing the show (the same guy who directed Nobunaga the Fool)

The original two mecha are duking out with new attacks and the new mecha will form from six vectors, yet all anyone can talk about is character design not being good? The fact that Nobunaga The Fool's director is on this gives this hope! Problem is will it be monster of the weeky like the original series or be self-referential and talky like EVOL? Will the antagonists be trying to survive like in Genesis or be pure evil like in EVOL? The only downside to this is Yunoha being back and obvious fan catering to the shipping with her and Jin (which I thought did not deserve the attention it got).

This is one of the reasons (among many other things) why I was absent in EVOL thread during the heyday (though part of it is me being too lazy to get into debate of such glorious trainwreck, pretty much like Guilty Crown and today’s Cross Ange). In fact, the same thing happen this very season with the “war” between Team-Inaho & Team-Slaine in Aldnoah thread. A so-bad-it’s-good series that is enjoyable to watch but not really worth discussing or debating. Depends on how this LOGOS turns out, I may or may not do the same: sit back munching popcorn watching the chaos ensues. Though I did participate in the thread of that dreck Nobunaga The Fool due to Caesar's charm .

See, I genuinely liked EVOL a lot, despite its flaws... but the shipping war and character hate really soured me on any discussion. :/ And Logos seems to be heading down the same road, with the "timid girl" and "spunky girl" archetypes, it's like pouring blood into the sea...

Caesar was the best. XD I wish he got his own show, adventuring around many worlds and trying to woo Ichi, with a hapless Mitsuhide as an ineffectual villain. I have never been so instantly put off by character designs like I have with Logos. Everyone's ugly. Everyone. Those worked with Outbreak Company but here... yuck.

I'm not feeling Shimazaki's voice these days and I certainly didn't in this PV. R.O.N and May'n are a neat on the music front but no Akino and Kanno further lowers my already sinking interest. I'll still give it a try, if and when I ever feel like it.

I couldn't actually listen to the PV yet (where the hell are my headphones), but if he's off hopefully it's just because it's prerecorded stuff without him having had any character context. I thought he was really good in Daimidaler, so if he can do that kind of hot-blooded again I'll be happy.

Well considering we will be looking at the characters for pretty much the whole show, an appealing character design is important no? Also the general negativity was aimed at Logos, the EVOL ova looks pretty sweet.

Also how was Nobunaga the fool? I was also under the impression that it was considered a trainwreck by a lot of people, but it could be typical anime circlejerking.

They look like the deliquent version of the EVOL mc's and you just know that the "meek looking" girl is the new Mikonos, I already hate her the most.

Honestly, I'd say The Fool is even less enjoyable than the so-bad-it's-good mecha series like Valvrave and today's Aldnoah & Cross Ange. Although the mecha looks glorious and character designs looks beautiful, the mecha fights are tepid and boring. The MC's actions are rather random and some things also happen randomly. The overall story is a mess and it's so much EMO.

Let's hope the same thing doesn't happen to Logos.

Cross Ange is the only one in those you mentioned that is actually any good/watchable.

Nobunaga the fool was a trainwreck that made the mc look worse by the episode by havong him sound confident then proceeding to show him get his ass kicked at every turn (I'm pretty sure Nobunaga was supposed to be a better fighter/strategist than that), also how many of the characters got developed was just plain bad.

The only way that it could have ended in good terms would have been if

"Saru" had actually killed Mitsuhide in the end and had become the true savior, becuase out of any character in the whole damn show he was the one who made sense as a ruler.

Valvrave and it's stupid plot, horrible character interactions and even worse developments just got tired and that was in the first half, after that nothing that happened made sense, hell did they even explain who that damn kid was?

Aldnoah.Zero had promise in the first three episodes and just got worse as it went on,

robotic gary stu (basically Japanese jesus v2.0 but instead of using pseudo science created magic he uses mechs) that somehow survives a point blank shot to the face with no downsides at all, a horribly developed generic space princess that gets almost assassinated 3 times in just the first half of the series and survives all of them only to spend 90% of the second half of the anime inside of a tube in a coma (literally the definition of useless), a character who the writers don't even know what to do with and the most underdeveloped secondary characters in a while. Add to that a story that makes no sense and contradicts itself at points becaues it tries to have it's cake and it it too with paper thin plot (of which it seems to have a lot of but when you really think about it there's nothing there) and you have Aldnoah.Zero.

As for M5, we don't talk about that PoS.

The last actually good and interesting mecha I saw was Majestic Prince (maybe Zidonia and Gundam Build Fighters, the first season, Try sucks imo) after that it's been downhill.

I could be wrong but the white? Silver? Haired girl looks like Zessica, if she is her reincarnation and is similar in character then I just found my "possibly" favorite character, let's just hope history doesn't repeat itself twice.

Let's hope the new mc is actually likeable, just have him be as epic as Kagura was but without the obsession and without his horribly worse half (Amata) with an even worse obsession walking around.

Also I will call bs if there is no fabulous gay angel trolling the mc's.

I'll certainly be on board for the OVA of EVOL. I simply adore Apollo's and Silvia's relationship in every stage, so seeing them together again in an all-new showing is worth a watch in itself =03. I still have bitter feelings about the horrible love triangle of Amata/Zess/Mikono and how it was horribly skewed in Mikono's favor, but I can't miss the chance of seeing the original cast in action.

This new Aquarion though...well it doesn't look too pleasing to the eye, that's for sure , then again, I'm getting through g-Reco, so this isn't all too bad for me to withstand. For me, the most important thing in Aquarion though is the synergy of the cast. That is what the core of what made the show interesting(and why Evol doesn't hold a candle to the original). As long as they have some interesting interactions with one another, I'll be in, regardless of what I think about the animation style. Of course, that's only if they don't try to pull that favoritism shit like in Evol at the beginning of the series; I have no intentions on sticking around long enough to tolerate it this time =0\.
