Apparently not if you're a Japanese idol/star/anything.

The change in designs don't bother me, and I can understand why they'd want to make Shinichi look nerdier.

For those who may want to discuss the manga or comparisons, I guess we can use this thread http://forums.animesuki.com/showthre...ight=parasyte?

I'm interested in hearing people expectations for the anime, or things they hope to see, or possible see changed.

I wouldn't care as long as she maintained her level of work, really. She can screw anyone she wants. These japanese fanboys are crazy.

Pretty meh staff list for what I would have hoped was a high-profile adaptation, but the industry probably sees it as a niche title that won't sell.

The anime designs do look unappealing. But then again, so did the manga's. But its Madhouse. And Mahouka aside, they've been quite faithful in adapting source material.

one thing about the mangaka is his love of weird facial expression on his characters.

In the US we call that "Fleetwood Mac".

Didn't hurt Stevie Nicks' career one bit.

Seeing how this is airing on NTV, I don't think industry gives a two fucks about the sales of this show.

Kinda had the feeling they were going to change the character design.. Still, call me disappointed. Hitoshi Iwaaki's simple designs has a charm on its own. :/

I'm not familiar with her at all, but after a bit of googling, it looked like all she did was have an affair with one of her band-mate. That's pretty standard stuff in our society. Banging all of your coworkers (except the bassist, why?!), on the other hand, isn't exactly common behavior. This kind of stuff can create a lot of tension and destroy a group, so in my view, it's not professional. In fact, it's highly likely that the whole thing was leaked by a guy from the band.

As for her being sex-crazed, I personally don't care as long as it doesn't affect her work, but I can see why her former agency would think it would in regards to what I said above. I'm of the opinion that professional and private life should be kept separate, especially when one's private life is that... licentious.

It's a very old title. I don't think they expect sales to be very big since there's no significant current interest in the manga.

I think there's some cultural gaps in this as well. It's well known that athletes and celebrities tend to "mingle" a lot due to the nature of their work (spending a lot of time with the (often attractive) opposite sex in a closed work environment will do that), but in Japan a lot of idols are marketed as symbols of purity. The waifu effect, basically. So when it goes public that these people are actually not so pure, it damages their reputation.

Of course, like every culture, this seems to be an issue for women more than men.

Not to mention there are now a dozen titles, one of which currently has a anime airing that are very much like it.

I ended up reading Parastye a few months ago, because I'd heard about the anime and was interested in reading more psychological horror/action. It was interesting, but the first half was rather slow for me, and Murano got on my last nerve.

Which is why I just role my eyes. Aya Hirano was neither the first nor will she be the last female Japanese idol who gets thrown under the bus for daring to have a sex life whether before or after becoming an idol.

What... the... hell..... what.... .

........

AAAAARRRRGGGHHHH!!!!!

Someone volunteer to be a punching bag please. PLEASE.

And no, Hirano can't possibly do the stoic, creepily logical personality of Miggy. No way.

Hirano aside, I always imagined Migi would have a male voice. So yeah, I can't see it working at the moment either.

If she'll use her Nobume's (Gintama) voice, it might work.

So...
Shinichi wears glasses
Murano looks completely different
Migi is voiced by Aya Hirano

That's quite some stuff that I didn't expect. I'm not sure what to think about this, oh I can be fine with that... probably, but I hope the story itself won't have major changes.
