Have been disappointed with superhero movie lately... But this one is not. Was very skeptic going into the cinema, but have to eat my words

Probably amongst the best superhero movie in recent age. I will say in same par with Dark Knight and Avengers for me and way above the rest!!

It is getting pretty annoying how the overseas market gets these Marvel movies SO much earlier. It was one thing when it was a week earlier, but now we're starting to go on three weeks earlier. Bad enough that Yahoo then goes and spoils the after credits scene based on that, but it really kills a lot of the hype for me having to avoid everywhere for three weeks out of fear of spoilers.

You guys got Winter Soldier before we do in Australia at least.

The way I see it, it is a matter of the rights owners trying to match holiday seasons in different countries. Sometimes you get it early, sometimes you get it late.

Not a single Marvel Studios movie has released in the US before releasing overseas; limited premiere events excluded. The closest was Iron Man, which only premiered about 2-3 days after it did internationally. We're now up to a 3 week variance.

If we include all Marvel movies, we got:

Amazing Spiderman a week later, Spiderman and Spidemran 2at the same time, and Spiderman 3 within days (like Iron Man).

Hulk and Incredible Hulk within days (like Iron Man).

X-Men before it went international, and the other X-Men movies within days of international release.

Fantastic Four after international release, and Fantastic Four 2 within days of international release (like Iron Man).

Daredevil and Elektra at the same time.

Both Ghost Rider movies within days (like Iron Man).

Blade 1 and 2 before international release, and Blade 3 at the same time.



So really, the US hasn't gotten a movie "early" since 2002. Everything else has progressively gotten further apart, with Marvel and Sony being the made culprits.

so my thoughts on one particular scene:

Spoiler for kind of huge if you don't follow/know about the comics:

the scene where Gwen dies is very well done. all the factors leading into her falling were "realistic" and then the actual moment of her death... perfectly up for interpretation. did she die from whiplash? did she die because the back of her head hit the floor? either way, it puts peter in a terrible terrible place. he either 1. failed to save her, or 2. killed her while trying to save her. the comics point at the second outcome, but the movie leaves it up for interpretation, which i think is wonderful.

As good as this movie was, and it was bloody good, I feel like the trailers pretty much stole every good scene in the film. This is far from new but I felt more ripped off with this movie than I have in quite awhile.

That aside...wow. The Amazing Spiderman 2 was, if nothing else at least worth the price of admission. There's something about the story of Spiderman that sets him apart from the Bruce Wayne's and Tony Stark's of the world. It makes us feel like we each have the potential to be a Spiderman and that's what I think Webb decided to run with. The portrayal of Electro as well as the Green Goblin paints them as the reluctant villain as opposed to something much more morally black and white convinces me that we each are capable of greatness and we each are capable of villainy (with great power comes great responsibility duh). Which is why I feel the final scene was a fitting way to end the film.

Oh and the Andrew Garfield-Emma Stone couple was sensational (almost as if they're actually in a relationship ).

Overall 8.1/10

I believe it's because they pull in more foreign money than domestic. Not 100% on that w/out looking up stuff

Am curious to see how this movie turns out. Pretty much dodged the last few trailers to try and save some surprise for when I can see the movie itself .

Still feels like this whole series of movies is still getting flack because it got rebooted. What else did people want after the disaster that was Spider-Man 3? Leaving that movie I thought a reboot was pretty likely and a good thing.

Anyways looking forward to this. Nice once the origin is out of the way and can just see how the story is going to unfold going forward.

Overall, action was excellent. The slowmo scenes were especially awesome. Watch it and you will know what I mean.

The main villian this movie was Electro. Green goblin didn't do much except you know...... Rhino hardly did anything. They were probably introduced to prepare for S6 lineup.

9/10. Would have been a perfect 10 if not for the inevitable...

Incidentally I couldn't find the thread initially due to hyphen. Good thing I remembered seeing it before.

Mary Jane wouldn't probably appear on the next Amazing Spider-man movie yet. Felicia Hardy was here on the 2nd movie, but not as Black Cat yet. She and Peter had a relation too, IIRC. But since Peter is entering college, I guess it's also safe to say that he'll meet MJ there.

Browsing through the thread, and I agree with this. In fact, I think his acting skills went up a notch in part 2.

That might make this franchise really long Felicia's relationship with Peter wasn't that memorable to me. In fact I think playing out their romance will be a bad idea unless they plan to scrap MJ altogether. It doesn't feel appealing to have the protagonist of the same movie franchise have 2 failed romances. So I was hoping she's just a cameo like Gwen was in the first movie franchise (and I don't remember her working for Obscorp, did she? though I didn't follow every series......). I think this franchise will focus on developing the Sinister 6 route and adding Black Cat to the mix will be distracting. Just my 2 cents of course.

Yeah, i was sad that the film did follow what happen to her in the Main Marvel Universe comics. I was hopping the reboot would just go AU and change her fate since she and Peter have such great chemistry together (Both Andrew and Emma's performance won me over.) Alas, it didn't.

this is definitely one of the best superhero movies,

there was so much plot and so many things going on, it din't felt bored or that the movie was wasting time or anything,i like the way they built up electro's character, i also liked the genetic disease back story they gave to harry.

everyone's acting was great, especially the evils smiles of harry were so good. Andrew and Emma couple was so great, just love it.

Gwen's death scene was so well done and so painful, i cried a little. i loved Emma as Gwen so much. i could have gone with her not dying, but her death made a big impact on the movie. The movie not just delivered on action and superhero scale but also on emotional scale

i think there should have been a little more action with harry, though electro was the main villain here, and well rhino was just for plot moving and for continuation purpose which i don't mind, they also introduced Felicia hardy so we'll be seeing Black Cat in the next movie and there were Doc-ock's robot arms and vulture wings so they will appear pretty soon as well. There was also this masked man, who harry sent into the oscorp, wonder who that is.

the effects and graphics were just amazing, also the slow motion shots, especially the scene where spidey's extended the web to catch Gwen when falling, just great. i really loved the way spidey swings and webs.

i loved Peter and Gwen coupling instead with Mary Jane, but now if they do plan on bringing her into the series, then they better make her character nicely because Emma stone Gwen was just great.

there were also lot of funny shots of peter, very funny.
and like all the marvel movies in the past few years, Stan Lee's appearance was hilarious , i almost yelled, "oh that's Stan Lee"

Seems like this movie is going to be a love/hate thing. I suppose it's better than hanging out in the middle ground.
