I'm not bothered at all by the recaps. Considering one piece have 500 some eps and each one has a recap as a standard, I think i'm pretty desensitized of this stuff by now. |

this episode seems to me just dragged on...
15 minutes of boredom 4 minutes of intelligences and a few seconds of Sasha sore stomach.... and I wish someone from Support Team stood up said that there Captain left them to die while he escaped.

Hmm, the way i saw it was that Eren pretty much had run out of titan power for now. He is in pretty bad shape, pale, nosebleeding, cant even stand straight. You see him grouching most of the episode probably because he is too weak to stand. He really was in no state to continue battling. If Armin hadnt solved the situation peacefully it would have been really bad for out trio.

I don't understand how the scaredy cat commander wouldn't try to keep firing at the first opportunity. It seems like the trio had a ridiculous amount of time to talk about the situation, though I am impressed with Eren's ability to analyse the situation, given how incredibly fucked up he must have been.
Whilst I did feel Armin's final words were a little over dramatic, I think that was more due to the soundtrack than the content. I could at least appreciate the emotional honesty and whilst Armin's internal struggles was fundamentally conventional, it was spiced with a very unconventional situation. I think that's what I like most about the trio. Eren's faith in Armin and devotion to the two. Mikasa's extreme devotion to Eren. Armin's desire to help his friends despite his flaws. It's all very upfront and sincere. I can feel the strong friendship that they have for each other.

Eren's little show left everyone speechless and scared.
Those three sure make a good team. It's amazing how fear can make people irrational and stupid. That captain needed a good punch in the face to get his shit together. Armin was pretty fired up and impressive this time. I was relieved when the commander stopped the captain.

I agree 100%. That would have been a much better way to end it and would have gotten people more hyped up for the next episode. I don't mind a dull episode from time to time cause I know how it is, but at least end a dull one on a high note that gets you really jazzed for the next one!

wow! an emotional episode...
it's quite a pity that they don't show any battles again (well, this anime isn't all about war, right?) I like how they pictured Armin's emotional problem and how Armin finally gain his confidence... He's so manly... what he's spouting there is already common sense (yea.. who didn't saw Eren kicked those Titans easily?) Dot Pixis is the best... I like this dude even since he stopped his chess battle against an aristocrat to protect Trost |

Well it sure was diluted this episode but I still liked it a lot.
Araki really knows how to increase the tension and make the viewer feel emotionally involved. Well I can understand that for some it can be boring the fact that nothing much happened, but on me Araki's style works pretty well. Quote:
The reason they have to make a recap is because they have contracts with several TV stations that are airing SnK. Those TV stations have all their airing slots preplanned for the whole season and if the animation studio skipped an episode they'd have to fill the hole with something. The recap episode is simply meant to fill that hole. Quote:
This is nothing, in Captain Tsubasa a football match can last up to 4 or 5 hours if you count the actual time passed in the episodes.

Snk itself showed signs of production schedule problem ever since the first episode. Just watch the second PV that was uploaded on the pony canyon anime's youtube channel a week before the first episode aired, and pay attention to the scenes with the colossal titan kicking the walls. You can deduce just from it that they barely finished the first episode in time ... and "finished" isn't even accurate, since all those damn stills obviously aren't there because of the staff's artistic choices.
