Hmm a setup episode. I hope the games can begin next week. Only 5 episodes left, not sure if that would be enough to reach nationals..

Glad they let Yoshino wear the team uniform. Even if she can't play, her coaching skills are amazing.

looks like their first opponent has some sort of yandere in it...

looking forward to next week.

Wow this game just got really exciting all of a sudden due to the pitcher's jealousy.

It is a pretty good close game but will get more exciting now that a little bit of spice has been added to the mix.

Pretty awkward for Tama when her current girlfriend met her ex.

If the opposing team isn't interested in playing against others and in fact seems to hate it, then why did they even enter the tournament? Needed more funds for their club?

Watched episode 8:

Yomi and Kazumi handshake is not friendly at all.

They must have caught some attention marching with only 10 people.

Kendo girl got lucky with a home run, Nozomi a bit jealous.

They're up against a weird team that does not like playing with others.

Looking forward to next week!

They ended up winning by a landslide. The opponents got to go home early because the mercy rule was invoked so they should be happy, right?

I'm glad that their overwhelming win against Kagemori did not make them arrogant or overconfident.. instead they keep up with serious practice against the next team.

Heard that removing the cap is one way of sincere apology in japanese baseball. Saw a guy do that in another show. So I guess Nakayama did not really mean to hit Ibuki with that pitch.

looking forward to next week!

It looks like they're doing well, and they are in a sense, but their opponents clearly outmatch them. Yoshino realized they have little to no hope of winning at the end. They're going to lose this one. Most of them are first years so they'll have more chances.

Great game so far, I really like how they struck out their best batter straight away, showed them that this team is one that can put up a fight against even the best.

I don't think they will win, the experience of the other team will surely get them through but at the very least I'm sure the result will be more than respectable.

They're doing better than I thought they would. Yoshino is beating herself up for making what she thinks are the wrong calls after things go wrong, but she really shouldn't. It's already amazing that a team comprised of mainly first years including two complete newbies can put up such a fight against a powerhouse.

On a day when you needed everything to go right, it has all gone wrong for them.

Nationals level indeed, she was waiting for the fast ball, nice homer either way.

Last week, I wasn't sure how this game was going to end up. They could win, or they could take the Bad News Bears route, where they lose but gain enough confidence and respect to say they'll be back next year.

After this week, though, I think so many individual characters are suffering frustration that the only way to wrap the series up is to have them win. The hitters need to hit, Yoshino needs to make some good calls (or get lucky breaks), and Yomi needs to strike out the power hitter.

Without spoiling anything, does anyone know how far into the manga the series is right now? Are there many more chapters still to adapt?

Vol 8 of the source manga released just today (and was accelerated to match the airing of the anime so there are 0 stockpile magazine chapters).

Episode 11 covered up to the middle of chapter 30, which is the last chapter of volume 5 (the series has kept to 6 chapters per volume thus far). However, if they keep the pace of recent episodes, episode 12 will cover more than half of vol 6 so there will only be ~2.5 volumes of remaining material.

Hmmm... not enough for another season any time soon, then. Thanks!

that home run by Nozomi made me smile.

Yomi why ask the dumb question if "it's ok to win like this?". Of course, it's ok to win.

also got damn nervous when Nakata hit that last pitch. Glad they won! ><

hoping to see a special episode to show if they made nationals.

____________

enjoyed this, and I would buy something from this anime at CDjapan.

Really didn't expect them to win despite the foreshadowing. They broke the standard sports anime convention.

I found this show pretty enjoyable despite the QUALITY. The baseball was actually pretty good, and the girls were nice. Yoshinozomi > Tamayomi.
