I think "Massachusetts" is probably the coolest-sounding state in the U.S. Imagine having a "William Delaware", "William Idaho", or "William New Jersey". Not as cool. Also, Massachusetts is probably one of the more important states to U.S. history. I don't know how much of it they learn over in Japan, so it may just be that he just remembered this state.

Your comment actually reinforces my point that the romantic pairings have been moved along this season. I thank you on behalf of my fellow citizens of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

I want to hear Tet sing the Tsun Tsun song from Yozakura Quartet now.

Gotta say that S2 character designs for both William and Lenessia are a good deal better imo. William had seemed a little too clean-cut and dry before, now his rugged and battle-wore appearance gives a more solid impression of his status as one of the top server players. And Lenessia simply looks much more refined and outwardly dignified while giving off that hint of her lazy, whimsical personality through those easy eyes.
I think Tetra's a pretty fun character, at least from what's been shown so far. Still need to see more to decide though. I was kinda surprised Demikas is holding such a big grudge against Shiroe when it was Nyanta whom he fought against and was made a complete mockery of. Then again, I never even expected him to make a return since he felt like total fodder in S1. Well, being turned into gag character is still a step up from his former position as 1 time mini-boss I suppose.

Not even remotely. The alterations to Lenessia are the worst abomination that has been perpetrated in anime in years. They even removed her pupils, for crying out loud! She looks dead. All the expressiveness that helped make her such a fascinating character is gone.

"Obsession" is too strong a word for Marielle's reaction in S1. Her reaction is more like that of a child finding something new and interesting to play with, rather than being obsessed. Obviously that those feelings grew into something more as time went by, which made the telepathic conversation this episode so diabetes inducing.

Regardless Marie definitely gave Naotsugu lots of attention on a pretty steady basis from the get go... I, for one (being an impossibly incurable romantic), think the pairing is very endearing. ^^

Marie is kind of playfully affectionate to everyone in general as that is just her personality when she interacts with people, but as she got to know Naotsugu as more and more time passed they build an actually bond and her interactions with him became more personal and deeper.

About the changes in character designs:
For the most part, DEEN's new designs are actually closer to Kazuhiro Hara's work on the original novel (and his official comicalizaton). It's off-putting to those used to the first season, but not so much from novel and comic reader POV.

On a more down to earth pov, it's quite possible that Akatsuki was mostly assigned as a bodyguard for Reynessia. Just in case Minami makes a move.

Crusty isn't in the city, most of the high-level adventurers are out with him, Shiroe had to wander off elsewhere himself... Lenessia may be uniquely vulnerable right now. I don't even want to think about someone managing to kill her in some way: that would be one of the most horrible things I could imagine happening in this story. Akatsuki is a highly-capable guard, who will take her assignment seriously.

Heh, after seeing Akatsuki going on about never having done a raid, it made me realize that I too have never actually done a 24man raid in any of the mmos I've played despite nearing or reaching level cap. It'd be cool if the legendary items from the raid isn't account bound and Shiro brings her a shiny new weapon or something.

I've only gone through mid-way through some small scale Raids so my experience with these things is like it's a much harder, and MUCH slower Dungeon. There is no room for the undisciplined which is bad because, what was the phrase again? Getting gamers to work together is like herding cats? |

Most epic raids are rather annoying to pull off:
1) They require a rare/expensive/limited item to initiate, sometimes from each member participating, so that's a lot of grinding in preparation for the dungeon. 2) The dread of disconnecting ALWAYS lingers around...and losing a key character can mean the end of the raid. 3) The lags...with so many people in one map, it's natural to lag...but healing 2 seconds later usually spells death for the laggers. 4) The screen is full of damage and effects, you can't see what's going on! 5) Trolls in raids mess you up. It only happens once, of course...but it happens. 6) Some raids have a time limit and the super-bosses at the end have HP that amounts to billions, thus requiring gear of legendary status to effectively deal with them (in some cases, only these very bosses drop such gear...so, yeah, hax). 7) While most of the above obviously don't apply to Log Horizon, raid dungeons are notoriously large - getting enough supplies to pull through can be rather tricky and if the drops are subpar or if you don't clear the raid, having another go at it will cost a lot. Anyway, this was quite an awesome episode, Tetra teaming up with Naotsugu is just desserts for him Silver Sword looks very interesting and their levels are pretty high, looking forward to some good battles... Akatsuki shopping for swords reminded me of Roronoa Zoro for some weird reason ._. |
