A curiosity.

The earring of the protagonist had the design altered in the version of the anime transmitted in China.

Spoiler for Japan version:

Spoiler for China version:

I wonder if it is the studio that makes such change or some institution of the country itself?

Anyway, I hope the anime continues with this quality, does anyone know how many episodes there will be?

Well, the design is reminiscent of the rising sun flag after all

I think first five episodes will be with this quality, as they were shown at the cinema.

That's good to hear. I just hope the action and storytelling settle into a comfortable rhythm now the bulk of the setup gotten through. I might have been a bit hard on first episode but this is the show I'm most looking forward to this season due to it's potential.

Thanks Ufotable, finally something good (for me) and even is a combo JUMP + Ufotable so I'm impatient. I need to wait until end of season, but if they wanted to sell me the manga they did it indeed, I hope for it to not going to shit.

Btw, I found funny that a lot of characters are...midgets?

Episode 2:

Nezuko in a basket lol

It looks like the show has a running gag of Tanjirou running into bloody or death scenes constantly now. I thought this episode captured the feeling of horror kinda well. The soundtrack made the scenes felt more thrilling too.

Tanjirou still has a lot to learn especially about fighting and surviving if you ask me though. He should be more careful.

Another very solid episode. It may not be doing anything special but there's a lot of heart to this story and it sure is shining through.

Well as long as these designs have no plot relevant reason behind them it should be ok. Does chinese version patern have any meaning?

Nezuko is kind of awesome and the best part of this show right now. That's a terribly tough spot she is in. Been turned into this demon and most definitely feels the pull to eat human flesh. But she's struggling against it. Drooling like crazy may be impactful visually, but it is a far cry from just launching herself at a corpse to eat it. And she definitely saved her brother a few times there. Probably can't keep up power-wise against demons that are well fed, but she's doing her part.

A long road for Tanjiro to reach a point that he needs to arrive at. To be able to fight, finish off the enemies that need to go down, and keep his sister safe while seeking a way to return her to normal. But step by step is the key.

Seems Tanjiro is too good for himself...and that later become a good plot point

Woah that devil was brutal and that the head was independant and have arms too was a nice suprise...still Tanjiro got the killing hit but hesitate so much almost loss it have not been the sunlight as the all killer(seems those Oni are vampires them)

And Urodaki accepted Tanjiro as his disciple after that recomendation

Love how they do the preview and how Nezuko got angry he choose udon over meat

This series is quite good. Hope this isn't the last work of the studio thanks to their tax evasion and robbery charges

I enjoyed this more than episode 1. Like Haak says it's not doing anything original plotwise but it earnest and weirdly wholesome show that's a bit more darker than usual shounen fair. I did a get a kick of Nezuko knocking the demon's head off.

That said one thing that is bothering me tho is why there are a lot people living away from settlements and cities when you can be killed so easily by demons in the middle of nowhere. I mean these guys literally come into your home and eat you. I've no sign of some kind of ward these type of stories usually have.

Is it a coincidence?
If only ufotable was as earnest about paying money as the protagonist...

Well, China has a very strict censorship bureau, the Communist Party’s Central Propaganda Department (CPD), which decides what they will allow as media into the country. They must have deemed the Japanese version needed to be modified for their own reasons. Essentially, as stated by RectangularCat, the earrings were reminiscent of the Rising Sun Flag, which represents the Japanese Self Defense Force (most similar to the Maritime Self Defense Force). There is a history with how Japan is presented in film and media in China, but this is not the place to discuss that. The important thing for this particular series is that the earrings are designed similar to the Rising Sun Flag, and the CPD deemed it inappropriate for viewing in China.

As for the episode itself, Nezuko already showed signs of hunger for human blood. It is taking everything she has to resist that hunger. The question is, how long can she hold out? Or will she be able to find an alternative? Like most things, consumption of food is needed to maintain energy, strength, and healing. If she doesn't consume "food" at some point, then wouldn't she cease to function?

Yeah that strikes me as a little off as well. You'd think if it were this easy for the demons then they'd be found out as more than a fairy tale by now but they've still managed to keep a low profile. It's possible that Tanjiro coming across two demon incidents in the span of two episodes is giving us a distorted picture and demon attacks aren't actually common enough to attract suspicion beyond general crime and banditry but I'm only speculating.

Disclaimer: Once again, can't remember if the manga actually explains it or not.

How old is Tanjirou anyway? Somewhere between 14 and 16, byetvhe never seen Demon before. Plus people attacked by demons usually do not tell tales. These deaths could be written off as attacks of wild beasts or bandits.
