The first bit, where they are being a bit awkward isn't too bad. Once the actual sex starts, then yeah I found it a bit over the top; especially the notorious 'glug glug' ending. Also, to me it didn't really fit how the rest of the physics / physical interactions were described (not that there was a huge amount of detail to those).
Personally, I'd prefer to trade that story for a sentence or two in "morning dew girl", no need to be graphic, but something more than "they had been falling asleep everynight cuddling in each others arms". |

The point of 16.5, perhaps, is that that's how we imagine sex to be like, and 16.6 to illustrate, literally, how we imagine it to look like.
And then you finally get laid and try to do the same, and that's when you realize that among other things, Kirito has a humongous STR stat... |

I doubt anything so well thought out. 16.5 seems to be 100% hard core fan serivce. The other 16.x that I've seen just recently found the translations for, also seem to be just about all fan service too (in that they don't really add anything to the existing plot), although more in line with other characterization.

More seriously speaking, if you're willing to write *that* many side stories celebrating one pairing, then... It's a chicken and egg question, really, to decide if it's Kawahara's fantasy or fan shipping. But i'm inclined to point out that throughout every single arc, Asuna is always described as the most beautiful. The prescence of competing haremettes seemed to merely serve to enhance her beauty in contrast to theirs. |

The later 16.x stories (which I enjoyed) seemed to be to be less directly tsundere and more about the shyness of two people who have just jumped into their first sexual relationship.
It seems pretty clear, based on what I've read so far (obviously incomplete) Kawahara is quite interested in the relationship (most likely partially as a form of wish fulfillment) but seems to have missed or decided to not follow any of the logical paths that would allow it to continue hence the 16.x stories have so far been set in the original SAO. I mean you have two people who have been through hell and all you can think of is to keep them together "off screen"? I guess that's why breaking up couples between major story lines has become the cliche that it is. |

So after peeking into this thread and seeing all the talk about this "16.5" chapter, I went and read it. Well. How to say this.. it's certainly not good. "Comical" is a fitting way to describe it. "Embarassingly bad" also works.
Rather than Kirito and Asuna being virgins, I wondered the entire time whether Kawahara was The piece reads like a sexual encounter, as imagined by a 14-year old virgin posting on a fanfiction site but certainly not a believably written piece by any stretch. Got a good laugh out of it though, and that's worth something. Though I have to say, it left me somewhat creeped out. As if Kawahara wrote that for himself, based on his personal fantasies or something. Kind of like Meyer...

I know this thread is old now, but I'll give my 2 cents worth anyway.
I had no idea this existed and wish I continued to not know that this existed. It's one of the most cringeworthy things I've ever read, I couldn't even finish it. I'll assume the author was really, really young when he wrote that. |

I felt so weird reading 16.5 like wow! As far as their relationship and when they fell in love with each other...everyone has already stated my thoughts. Pretty much on page 1 before the conversation got...nasty.
