I'll credit Kamiyan, I dont remember Shinji being this annoying in the first series. Kamiyan with that creepy laugh and arrogant tone really makes Shinji someone you love to hate.

I'll have to take your word for it. I'm sure he was speaking the lines correctly, but when I think back to Shinji's scenes, especially in this episode, all I hear in my mind's eye is "Zetsuboushita!" repeated over and over...

The episode itself was slow paced, but I feel this one acts as a sort of calm before our heroes dare to enter and ride the eye of the storm once again in the next episode.

Now, having watched two times this episodes still feels that lot of different dialogue went by that I do not know where to begin.

Then, if I have to choose which scene became the highlight of the episode to handpick, then that'll be Shinji reaching the Church and lashing at his predicament to Kotomine. The fact is that Kotomine's not a fly on the wall, so to speak, witnessing the events unfolding in the Fifth Holy Grail War. When he suggests to Shinji that there's another Servant available to handpick, then I can be assured that Kotomine's moving his own agenda undetected.

Basically, he's another Master, however, he wants to remain anonymous until the calling for the miracle comes in.
