If you want to find a comparison then I think Sena is more similar to Ichiko from Binbougami ga! Both of them have a ridiculous amount of luck, both have loads of money, they have killer bodies, both are athletic, neither seems to study for school, both have strong personalities (they want a lover, they do not need a lover for everyday support), both of them have trouble making friends (female or otherwise, lackeys do not qualify as friends). In conclusion, both are the kind of character that are innate envy magnets.

So the big revelation at the end of the episode is that Yozora plagiarized a movie for her script. How will this affect things to come? Well, first off, it's another mark off her character for doing so, but we'll have to wait and see what her excuse is before committing final judgement. Obviously, with the preview, they will have to make another story and movie, given the limited amounts of time they have left.
Will this affect how the other members view Yozora? Probably not. I guess in a way, they come to expect and forgive her for doing things that are morally grey. Yozora is very lucky to have people around her that truly do not have ill intent towards her even after all she has done.

With regard to bullying, let's be careful about imputing real-life values and social norms into the Haganai universe. Many things in the anime are not meant to be taken literally, in the same vein that "Team Rocket's blasting off again" is not meant to attract arguments about whether Ash is going too far in thwarting their plans.
My interpretation of the plagiarism is that the movie is fairly obscure yet Yozora knew about it, which suggests that she enjoys its plot and is trying to self-project herself and Kodaka into the roles of its characters, thus leading to the conflict in the previous episode. |

Nevertheless if you are going to copy another move scene by scene it is only natural that you acknowledge it in the credits. Also keep in mind that rehashing a movie is not as attractive for the crew as doing something original.

But I suppose discussing that is pointless now since it's obvious they would switch to another story judging from the preview as well as the OP.

Oh, so it was in this episode that Kodaka got himself another childhood friend? I'm so happy that I'm not mad anymore about the previous 'troll'. I mean, with that picture so cute that it gives people diabetes, how can anyone?
But wait... Pegasus has their thumbprints embeded in some sort of paper contract? I kinda remember that Pegasus had a paper last season that looked important (but they didn't show the contents), and either he got it from a drawer or hid it in a drawer, or am I misremembering things? 2 years worth of anime has made my memory kinda fuzzy. XD And poor Yozora. Not only does she learn that Kodaka/Sena are engaged, but her title as THE osananajimi been challanged as well? She really did look shell shocked at the revelation. Still, I bet Sena is now eating her words where she said "It's not the past that matters," because she could have otherwise used the contract/osananajimi status to gain a real lead over Yozora. Just too bad Sena... Most ironic about the episode? 2nd place red head girl sees Sena as the epitome of 'Riajuu', when in reality she leans on the far opposite end of the spectrum as an 'Otaku' lol Kinda perplexing though that the authour had to parody Sakamichi no Apollon out of all things, considering that 1) it never had a movie and 2) the story is about 2 guys and girl, when the in-show movie is about 2 guys and one of the guys little brother. But I guess it makes more sense for Sakamichi no Ue no Taiyou to be a movie, as Yozora has already been established as a big movie buff.

Really? Can you actually call those two childhood friends, when neither of them were old enough to remember anything? That's like saying every person at a child's daycare are childhood friends with each other =0\. But I guess what WE think doesn't matter to the chars in the story does it? Nonetheless, I still felt compelled to say it.

I don't think Sena is all that interested in getting an edge over Yozora concerning childhood friends. She could use it, or even their 'engagement' as fuel to retaliate against Yozora more, but I don't think she's gonna put as much emphasis on it as Yozora does. Even with Yozora's scheming and 'bullying', I don't see Sena as actually being mean enough to hurt Yozora, as all the signs are there that she actually sees her as a friend, not as a rival.
As for Kodaka telling Pegasus he'd protect Sena from bullying, I think that Kodaka knows well enough that Sena can take care of herself most of the time. And I think he wants Sena to learn to stand up for herself more whenever Yozora does something to her that she doesn't like (or is most likely not going to like). And given that Sena seems to be giving Yozora a piece of her mind more often, I'd say it's working. So I wonder if he is really as dense as people claim he is, or actually more perceptive and just not saying it.

What I liked about this episode is how it was shown that Sena was really comfortable in talking with Kodaka. The first season had already shown this when Sena let her tummy out during the trip to the water park, and NEXT had her taking a button off to let out some steam after that conversation.

Btw, Sena is also bra-less as well as panty-less. They are really pulling all the stops with her.

Because she's not Sena? Scripts don't magically appear without effort - especially one about friendship from someone who doesn't know a whole lot of...
The contrast cannot be more obvious - Sena rolled the best possible rolls when character creating, whilst Yozora got an above average roll. The difference between a flawed character and a character with flawlessness being a flaw. |

I think it's a stretch to say that Sena's flaw is flawlessness. This is a story about friendship after all, not about success in terms of academics or career, so their flaws should be evaluated based on what attracts or repels friends towards them. The fact that they're all in the club already shows that they are flawed in some way.
People with good grades, looks, and wealth can and do make many friends. I'm sure most of us know a few people like that who simply have everything going for them, but are so nice and likable that they would probably have just as many friends even if all their traits were the opposite. For Sena, her lack of friends is a sign that there are flaws in other aspects of her personality. Last edited by frivolity; 2013-03-08 at 06:36. |

Erm...writing a script usually is not too related to friend-making powress, so what the story is about is not relevant here.
Personalities aside, Sena being good at everything is one reason (how realistic this is, another issue) other girls can't stand her. And that personality means Sena is used to have cake and eat it, too. In this instance, she is going for the cake (Kodaka & Yozora) whilst the cake has different ideas. Why use D&D example? I suppose because the difference between say INT 18 and INT 16, whilst only 2, is massive. Therefore the difference between a mere good roll and maxed out roll. |

I didn't make any contention about the scriptwriting part. What I disagreed with was the point you made about Sena's flaw being flawlessness, so what the story is about is indeed relevant in this regard.
If the other girls are jealous of Sena simply because she's good at everything, then the problem lies with the other girls being jealous, not with her. But that is not the case here because we have been given several indications that there are also other problems with Sena's personality. Put another way, if we removed Sena's family wealth, academic achievements, and looks, she would still have just as many problems making friends based on her character. So the problem lies with other flawed aspects of her character, and not her overachieving ability. |
