Delta's equivalent of the VF-17/171. Aka all purpose cannon fodders.

Said mobile stage can be transformed into a mobile shielding device. Very flexible.

Also, it would appear the Draken can defold freely without the use of accessories.

Loyld is on a ship. So either they piggybacked or the fold booster is integrated with the Ghosts themselves.

Which is tactically frightening.

Watched the sub. As emigration fleets spread throughout the galaxy they encounter alien races, traces left behind by the Protoculture.

One of those races are Windermerians from the planet Windermere. Freyja and the Aerial Knights come from this planet.

Oh Freyja has synesthesia perceiving music as colors.

Considering the Zentradi do technically live forever, or have extremely long lifespans, I'd say there are still much to be revealed about the Zentradi.

Though I do believe they were programmed to go berserk on a moment's notice. After all, there is a reason why that war is still on.

The good news is Kawamori is not Series Composition of Delta, he is just chief director(+original creator) like Macross F.
Let's see can Toshizo Nemoto did a good job of the plot.

Sorry; dynamic content not loaded. Reload?
Seriously, cut it off. Mirrage was caught of guard by tricky tech she never seen before. Sure ace of her team just shrugged it of, but that say more about his skill than hers.

It's possible that this is first step of bad writing, but you making premature conclusion here.

So the idol girls are really physically out there in the dangers of a battlefield, interesting. It got a little too flashy between the battle and the "concert" effects, also with that mahou shoujo shtick going on, but I think I will get use to it soon enough.

Mikumo definitely feels like Delta's incarnation of Sheryl. Her eyes lighting up getting in on the action. Hurrah for technology I guess. I suspect she like Freyja are both from Windermere. The hair is pointing to it being sentient?

Freyja is pretty likable so far. I think Suzuki Minori did a good job with the various expressions. The part where she explained the village chief matchmaking her was funny.

Mirage... ahh... she's Miss Straightforward, being a bad dancer kinda matches that character trait I guess. Looking forward to the bickering between Hayate and her.

Seems like we could have a mysterious character not introduced yet. Who's the owner of the voice that triggered Vars outbreak? Who's up on that flight of stairs?

From the Prologue the NUN has really become the Stellar Republic 2.0 with how far they have explored and settled. Also integrating races they've met along the way.

It seems the Windermere are a result of a union between the planet's natives and the the 101st Windermere fleet.
The 100th Ragna fleet on the other hand settled Ragna and expanded from there. Perhaps integrating upon meeting Chuck's race along the way.

What we are seeing is something hinted in Macross Chronicle. Planets clashing due to their unique cultures.
It may be the Kingdom of Wind wants to ceded from the NUN. It wouldn't be an issue as Earth doesn't have much say on how fleets and planets are run anymore but the Kingdom of Wind's Windermere may have aggressive nationalism thus attacking other planets with the Var syndrome.
But Ragna using history as their guide has resorted to music to combat the Var syndrome. They know the Var syndrome is artificial due to the Fold wave reactions but they didn't know the culprit.
Now the Kingdom of Wind has gone in the open to silence the Wulkure who are combating the Var syndrome.

I have feeling being part of Walkure takes more than just a pretty face and singing voice. I can see ardous military and physical training.Technical know how is required.

One is a hacker, another is a mechanic.

Think Fire Bomber without piloting Valkyries themselves.

Fire Bomber/Sound Force was the first tactical musical unit. Jamming Birds is similar to the Wulkure/Delta Squadron setup.

There was also the Milky Dolls when Earth first tried the idea of a group of idols.

Only liked the dogfight part. That's the only thing that will keep me in this show.
Everything else... meh.
Sad. Hopefully the show gets better.

Too much magical girl, not enough mecha for me. (Or rather, I have a problem with magical girls being so... immune to the threat of giant mechas.)

They are small and agile, of course there are hard to hit. In exchange they have limited offensive ability and probably can't travel long distance.

They can tank missiles. And don't get hit by bullets no matter how high the rate of fire.

What makes you think the idols aren't equipped with armor and defense. Their idol suits are mereley holograms? This episode pretty much gives the impression they have trained for this.

Force field like ones produced by wings are more likely than physical armor. They still probably needs these wings for tanking more dangerous stuff then bullets and debris.

OK.... There are parts of this that I really like, for example, the action and art. However, the parts that had the idol fighting and the mecha ballet... I had to face-palm that. That is too much a combination of Macross 7 and AKB0048. I really hope that the rest of the series focus more on the story and action of the fights and less on the silliness of the idol show.

Also, the main song starts off in a way that is a little too loud and in your face, which I don't particular like, but the singing parts were fine.

It's a new Macross series, so I won't drop it, but I pray that it really does focus on the story from this point forward and less on the silliness that makes me face-palm with it trying too hard to put on an idol show in the middle of a deadly war-zone.

Silliness? I never found any of it silly. What do you expect from a culture that venerates idoldom? An Idol literally saved their entire civilization from extinction. I'm betting becoming an idol in the world of Macross idol is the same as being a soldier or war hero. The "silliness" is part of the performance. It used to distract the aggressive Var infected and also make people happy in a time of crises. These idols take their jobs very seriously. It's very much an integral part of Human-Zentradi history at this point.

Of course they are. That's not my point. I never doubted there was an in-universe explanation for them being able to do what they showed they could.

My point is that the writers chose to make their idols able to survive that kind of confrontations with nothing more than their stage costumes, and so far I find that choice off-putting.
