Once again, wtf!?!?!? I mean, sure once you get that many characters it gets hard to choose, but seriously, someone tell me that this is a joke.

Think about this this way:

This tournment actually is just like a real life elections. In a real election, quite often people would vote for the party instead of voting for the people running. That is, you would vote for xxx party or yyy party instead of go learning what each canadiate is about and vote Mr. abc and Mrs. cgf.

So, what you can see from this is, some people would vote for anyone that is from that anime series, and of course, promote them so others would also. They would also vote against certain series so that the series they are rooting for would have a better chance.

now about the 2 cats from ARIA series...the above could apply, or some people could just think they are really moe. Your pick.

The full draw is complete, see my above post.

Some of the trickier ties

Spoiler for Blocks A and B:

Spoiler for Blocks C and D:

Spoiler for Blocks E and F:

Spoiler for Blocks G and H:

Just who's responsible for these draws? They really ought to keep characters from the same series as far apart as possible, especially those series with lots of representatives. Just the fact that either Haruhi or Yuki will be out by the 4th round saddens me.

I wonder if there's a way to draw/tie that round between Haruhi and Yuki
It really sucks that one of my two favourite characters will get ousted so quickly...but I guess the Mai-Otome guys have it worse what with the massive number of entries

Yeah, but after round 3 they will hold another draw, so it's unlikely Mikuru would meet Haruhi by then, though she would meet other tough opposition.

If assuming Mikuru and Yuki/Haruhi able to pass then eventually they have to meet because of winner of E1 block must fight winner of E2 block for top 8.

Which means
- you can only have 翠星石 or Sugintou.
- you can only have Nanoha or Fate.

On having strong characters from the same show appear in the same bracket: I believe that Saimoe does this (and have titles with many characters have two characters face each other in round 1) so that way more anime titles can be represented in the "elite 8". In other words, it's like a "checks and balances" system. Case in point, in last year's tournament:

-Shinku, Suiginto, and Suiseiseki from Rozen Maiden were all in Block B;
-although in the end, only Nodoka was able to make it to the block finals (where she lost to Natsuki from Mai-Hime), when it came to Negima, both Evangeline and Nodoka (two of the more popular Negima characters) were in Block A, while Asuna and Setsuna (two other Negima characters that were popular among the fans)were in Block B.

As for matchups I'd like to see later on I'd like to see a second round showdown between

Seeing these kinds of lists always reminds me of how little anime I've seen...

*stares at Tessa, Sia, Kaede, Natsuki, Mai, Nagato, Mikuru, Tohsaka, Rider, and Sakura flags*

*tries to decide which one to wave*

*gives up and starts madly waving all of them at once*

I already have most of my picks for Round 1 marked out. Its painful when you have to 'bite the bullet' and pick from a couple or more favourite characters... I absolutely dread the very real possibility of having to choose between Suzumiya Haruhi and Nagato Yuki in the future

One opinion: If you think about it, if Yuki and Haruhi are really popular, purposely placing Yuki and Haruhi as far apart as possible just means that it'll be merely delaying the 'inevitable' clash...

Another opinion: On one hand yes checks and balances are important but on the other hand it means that the final standings may not give a real full picture of who is actually the 'most moe'.

Conclusion: I am completely conflicted >_<

*decides to just wave Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu and Higurashi ga Naku Koro ni flags blindly*

Edit:
http://tcode.sakura.ne.jp/uramoe/index.html
This may prove interesting... its the "ura" ("reverse"/"other") Saimoe which uses a totally different method of seeding/ordering.

Edit2:
It also seems that the "official" Saimoe (i.e. the one we've been talking about so far) has shifted its voting threads to a different board? *confused*

Hey, a perfect sweep for me! 0 for 3 on day one. That's all right, I don't care. I march to a different drummer. I refuse to go along with the crowd. My resolve is steadfast. And like in the previous round, my vote also appears to be the kiss of death...

Had a hard time choosing between Nao and Mion... went with Mion in the end. The other two choices were easy: Kaori and Minamo
