Episode 2 was very good overall, but one moment disappointed.
It was painfully convenient, and questionable, for Beatrice to suddenly leave like that after she seemed seconds away from finishing off Illya (and possibly Tanaka as well). But other than that, a very good episode with some real surprising twists and good comedy moments. A very good mix of comedy and drama. Very good to see Kid!Gil again, definitely one of the more amusing and entertaining characters of the last Prisma Illya anime.

Dat look! Gil knows more than he lets on. Damn Gil is a charmer! Lookout Shirou he might steal your little sister! beside he ruined Illya for marriage anyway. Or is it the other way around?
As for Tanaka. Who is Tanaka? Why must she destroy the Ainsworth? |

Good episode. They cut one notable thing from the end of the Beatrice confrontation, but there should be an event next episode that gives the audience the same information (and not having the part this episode arguably gives that upcoming event a lot more impact). They got exactly to the end of chapter 3, and should get to the end of chapter 5 next episode (possibly into chapter 6), given what's shown in the preview. A lot of it is action, as you would expect by the end of this episode, so it looks like they'really keeping a good pace.

I really like Tanaka so far. Very fun and amusing X Factor in this show. I find it really funny how she acts like a total ditz until someone mentions "Ainsworth", then she suddenly starts talking like a normal (but deathly serious) human being.

Ah, Kirei will never change no matter what world he's in.
From sadistic priest who gets off from human suffering. To sadistic ramen owner who gets off from people eating mapo tofu. Rejoice Illya.

Certainly having Gil around makes things rather amusing. He seems to be having a good time with this reincarnation business. A much appreciated source of firepower as well. He adds a different personality to the mix which isn't a bad thing. Can't wait for next week. Behind enemy lines and found out.

Ah yes, that was a bit unfortunate. Some things got lost in transition from manga to anime, they had to cut out a scene from their encounter with Beatrice which prolonged it a bit and made it potentially less convenient. The fact that they left out something might or might not have significance (i.e. they will put it in later in a different situation effectively letting us know later for more impact).

Ramen chef Kotomine did not disappoint one bit. No matter what world he's in, his passion for mapo tofu does not fade
If the animation follows, the next episode should be amazing. KoGil vs Gilko, the match of the century.

Okay that pacing is worrisome now.
Spoiler for Pacing:
At least staff wise that is a lot of quite experienced animators. Quite a few of them worked on the Ep6 of the first show, others on various silverlink, shaft and whitefox high profile shows and episodes in those shows. So at least it will be hella pretty. Kamitani especially handled stuff like gundam 00 movie, madoka movies, monogatari franchise, etc. Last edited by Harry Dresden; 2016-07-14 at 11:23. |

Spoiler:
The ramen scene was hilarious. Yorokobe Shoujo delivered. Glad Gil-ko is back since he was quite amusing at the end of 2wei Herz. Also, the animation of Angelica walking through GoB was really nice. Another scene that I liked was Illya talking about Miyu with her brother since It was pretty touching. |

That's fine. I was actually hoping they'd be going further than what they showed in the end-of-episode teaser, and they are. What they're covering next episode has a lot of action, and it goes by fast. Even in the manga, it was a quick read. Their pacing is just about perfect so far. If they don't start adding fluff, they should be fine ending about where you speculate, setting us up for an amazing climax and great lead into "3rei Herz".

Another good one.
It is actually refreshing having a Gil that I can just purely enjoy right now . No complaints about him knocking around these guys. At his best when he just purely gets cocky. The tide of the fight was turning a bit on him, but before that point he really had an insane advantage. Nice as well seeing Illya making use of the cards. Of course....considering the other party was using Mjölnir....that's not the best matchup. Heroic spirits aren't all equal and that was definitely not an opponent that Caster could handle. Good save there. Only a brief second but nice seeing that snipe by Kuro to buy them a bit of time.

Episode 3
REALLY disappointed they removed Caster's hype monologue by Illya. It seems that one of Fate's best characters gets the shaft even in the actually good adaptation. Due to that a big part of the hype of this clash between two beings from Age of Gods is lost. Otherwise the episode was very much on point. Gil's lines and arrogance were brilliant and Beatrice's power was shown perfectly too. OST was great too, hopefully it will be more intense in the more intense scenes latter on. Now let's see if they slow down for next episode. This pacing absolutely wont work on more talky chapters. |
