to me, it looked like as if Amuro was preforming a Zanbuster Beam rifle configuration from its later future sequel manga, Crossbone Gundam, with STYLE

he basicly tosses the barrel part of the rifle into the air behind him then he turns his waist around & the barrel attaches to the main body of the rifle with perfect ACCURATE precision fitting (without the use of a laser guidance) & then he shoots...

& yes, the enemy is distracted by his stunt & was ONE SHOT KILLS instantly without even any single time to react to it

And I love how the shield got glued to the shoulders; a gimmick that never made it to the model kits.
